JADE LEE QUINTET

Jade Lee, was born in a main city Canton in China and from a young age was singing as well as (from the age of 7) studying dancing. She was a Musical Theatre performer in China. Jade is a unique engaging and confident jazz singer with an emotional voice, rich, soulful and full of depth. Her singing style is influenced by Sarah Vaughan, Dee Bridgewater and Karrin Allyson. Jade will perform jazz standards, including swing, latin and ballad.
Don't miss seeing two great young talents from China, Jade Lee and Chao Hu, teamed up with Scott Dennison, Tom Sansbury and Rod Oughton to bring a fresh quintet to CaféJAZZ.

Trombonist Brian Archer, one of the most gifted soloists on today's jazz scene, is in CafeJAZZ for a Sunday Special - starting at 8.30pm
A 1980s graduate of the Guildhall School of Music, Archer played his first major gigs with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra, when the trombone section included Mark Nightingale, Dennis Rollins and Elliott Mason. He then joined the John Dankworth and Michael Garrick Orchestra, committing many fine trombone solos to CD.
Away from the jazz scene, Archer's trombone has worked its magic enhancing the careers of established pop/mainstream heavyweights such as Chris Rea, Brand New Heavies, Shirley Bassey, Burt Bacharach and Dionne Warwick.

Electric Ballads Trio
... First gig for a new project from Burum trumpeter Tomos Williams. Joined by Aidan Thorne (bass guitar) and Mark O Connor (drums) the trio will be exploring mostly ballads, with subtle use of electronics. Songs covered will include I Fall in Love to Easily, Contemplation, Rosemary's Baby and others.

Moonlight Saving Time take Footsteps In The Dark on tour this summer embarking on a national tour to support the release of their eponymous debut EP. The tour schedule includes Soho’s famous Pizza Express Jazz Club and the prestigious Manchester Jazz Festival. Previous concerts have included sold-out appearances at Brecon, Oxford and Cheltenham jazz festivals. Tracks from the EP were recently featured on BBC Radio 3’s flagship programme ‘Jazz on 3’.

Additionally, he has participated as a sideman with greats such as Vince Mendoza, Joe Henderson, McCoy Tyner, Mercer Ellington, Bob Mintzer,Dave Liebman, Michael Abene, Odean Pope, and many others. Pekka's own group has performed in Finland, Denmark, Norway, The United Kingdom, France, Switzerland, The United States, Chile, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Uruguay, Peru, Singapore, Malaysia, Korea, China, Hong Kong and Japan. He has appeared in more than five-hundred concerts abroad during the past eight years.
