GRADED ASSESSMENT
---------- ---------- ---------- ----
Our students are regularly entered into ABRSM graded examinations with extremely high pass rates. Students can start from Grade 1, or if they are particularly skilled, can enter from a higher level. Often students who took exams many years ago take refresher lessons with us before continuing with grades where they left off.

THEORY WORKSHOP
---------- ---------- ---------- -
We offer theory and aural workshops to help prepare for the latter stages of graded assessment which require skills such as sightreading, and sightsinging in order to pass. These workshops can be included in normal lesson times or can be added on to extend lesson durations.

PLAYING FOR PLEASURE
---------- ---------- ---------- -------
There is no requirement whatsoever to take grades while learning piano. For many, just being able to demonstrate their skill to their family and friends is reward enough, and deservedly so. Exams can be a good way to push yourself but they are not the only way of setting goals. Perhaps there is piece of music you've always wanted to perform. We can help you achieve that feeling very rewarded.

AGE IS NOT A FACTOR
---------- ---------- ---------- ----
Whether it's your child's first time in front of a piano, or you wanted to learn but never got around to it, it's never too late! Anyone can begin tuition with us, regardless if they don't have any prior musical experience. We go at a pace to suit your goals, making sure it always remains fun. As long as you put in the practice we recommend, you can look forward to impressing your friends with your new piano skills.

WE MAKE PIANO A PASSION
---------- ---------- ---------- ---------- -
Some beginners find the prospect of exams daunting and leaves them wary about starting to learn. While we thrive on seeing students push themselves beyond their limits, the priority for learning piano should be because you want to play. As you progress, you may feel like challenging yourself with graded exams, but overall it's all about falling in love with the piano!

LESSONS IN A SAFE ENVIRONMENT
---------- ---------- ---------- ---------- ---------- ---
All our tuition is on a personal one-to-one basis. We welcome parents to meet with our teachers first and are invited to sit in on the initial lesson if they wish to ensure their children are relaxed and comortable continuing. Teachers are fully CRB checked and can provide evidence from the Disclosure & Barring Service upon request.

ABOUT
---------- -----
My musical history stems back to the young age of 7 when I was initially taught by my mother. I can recall vividly how excited I was when our piano arrived. I believe my excitement and enthusiasm to learn was the key factor in my success in learning this fine beautiful instrument.

With encouragement from my mother and much practise at home , I excelled in my playing which led to a scholarship at the age of 11 into the Welsh College of Music and Drama which was at that time in Cardiff Castle. I was privileged to have been taught by the the very finest of teachers who was an Examiner and Overseas Examiner. I emulate my musical performance and my teaching on the excellent structured way in which I was taught.

At a time when there is a reduction in council funding to musical instrument tuition it is becoming evermore common for youngsters to take up lessons outside the school gates. I have over 30 years of teaching experience in developing your child's skills to help them achieve grades or simply play for pleasure. Many studies will attest that children who play instruments perform better in school and appreciate early the benefits of hard work practise and discipline. Lessons are on a one to one basis to ensure concentration between pupil and teacher.

I am CRB checked.
