***THIS EVENT IS SOLD OUT***
One of the UK's most well-known politicians, The Rt. Hon. Lord Michael Heseltine, will deliver this year’s Hadyn Ellis Distinguished Lecture on Wednesday 28 November 2018.
By November this year, pressure will be mounting on the UK and EU to agree the terms of Brexit. Lord Heseltine will reflect on this draft treaty, bringing his immense experience as former Deputy Prime Minister and key critic of the campaign to exit the EU.
... What will the withdrawal terms mean for future UK trade? What will it mean for the union between the four UK nations? Will the proposals be able to secure sufficient political support to be ratified by Parliament? This lecture will be an opportunity to hear first-hand insights from one of the foremost parliamentarians of his generation, and to consider the ramifications of the biggest political challenges that lie ahead of us.

A new Β£20m research centre aimed at finding effective treatments for dementia has officially opened at Cardiff University.
A new case of dementia is diagnosed somewhere in the world every four seconds. There are currently 850,000 dementia sufferers in the UK alone, so finding new ways to treat or prevent this set of diseases is critical.

We’re delighted to be able to support the Homeless World Cup which will be staged in Cardiff in 2019. We are hosting hundreds of players and key personnel at our Talybont halls of residence.
It was great to welcome the Chair of Wales Homeless World Cup bid Michael Sheen to Talybont and show him around the accommodation and facilities.

β€œIf you were told you had a 70 percent chance of developing dementia, what would you do with that information?”
Understanding the causes of mental illnesses is a crucial step in improving the lives of the people affected by them. It could mean earlier detection and a more personalised approach to treatment.

I arrived at Cardiff University in 2008 and graduated in 2014 with a 22, I did my degree part-time in the School of Social Sciences in the Glamorgan building and many other departments around the campus too.

The teaching is of a very high standard and the lectures are approachable too. However if you are a wheelchair users like myself Cardiff University probably isn't for you, the buildings are very antiquated and it's not very accessible either to be honest with you. The buildings date back to the 1800s and there were 2 other disabled students at the university during my time there who unfortunately because of lack of accessibility want elsewhere due to the of the physical features of the buildings at the campus. It was hard for them to get around as disabled students, it was very difficult for to get around also, I would often arrive at lectures late because of lack of accessibility. However the student support team based in the learning Centre were wonderful and a good support to me as a disabled student.

The School of Social Sciences also did their level best to accommodate me in whatever way possible despite the physical features of the buildings, causing me issues, they did try hard to make the necessary adjustments to help me out. The School of social sciences worked hard to try and make the necessary adjustments to accommodate me. However if you are a disabled student, I would not advise Cardiff University at all, as it's very difficult to get around and each department may have different barriers that you might have to navigate particularly if you are a student of limited mobility or a wheelchair user!

However Cardiff University is a fantastic academic tuition and is of best universities in Wales so educationally, I couldn't recommend Cardiff highly enough it's a fantastic university and you will definitely get value for money particularly in relation to the teaching from staff at the institution!

the condition of Senghennydd court is poor and everyday have to sleep with the smell of some rich food as there is no kitchen ventilator. Moreover, the WiFi can’t support to see a film or a TV show online. I reflected these problems and no one can solve these. The worst accommodation I have ever met.

User

My nieces experience was shocking. As a young black girl she headed to this universality with high hopes to study medicine! Shocking systemic unapologetic prejudice up to the highest office. If you are ethnic minority I would think twice about going here. You are welcome thank me later!
