Researchers at Cardiff University will evaluate the size of the gender pay gap within UK public sector occupations such as teaching and nursing after successfully securing a research grant from the Office of Manpower Economics (OME). https://www.cardiff.ac.uk/…/1335678-pub lic-sector-gender-pa…
Melanie Jones, Professor of Economics at Cardiff Business School, said: “The potential impact of this project is enormous when you consider that the work of the OME and the pay review bodies impacts upon 2.5 million workers, or around 45% of public sector staff, with a combined annual pay bill of approximately £100 billion." https://www.cardiff.ac.uk/…/1335678-pub lic-sector-gender-pa…

A little while back we rolled out a terrible (brilliant) joke from Pulp Fiction to introduce this story - the firm at it's heart, Phytoponics, just secured additional funding to scale up their patented method. Well done folks! https://www.cardiff.ac.uk/…/1326934-car diff-graduates-growi…

Everyone present at yesterday’s Cardiff University/Cardiff Half Marathon will have felt the strong bond and sense of community amongst #TeamCardiff members and the thousands more who took part.
Our thoughts at this time are with the families and friends of the two runners who passed away.

With just two days to go until Cardiff Half Marathon we wanted to share Dr. Nick Courtier (PhD 2010)’s story with you, and his message of thanks to #TeamCardiff runners. Nick talks about his own diagnosis and how he responded by becoming a cancer researcher. He’s now part of Future Leaders in Cancer Research, an initiative supported by our runners’ fundraising https://www.justgiving.com/…/cardiff-un ive…/cancerresearch18

Just three days to go until Cardiff Half Marathon, and we’re focusing on #TeamCardiff fundraisers raising money for cancer research. Here’s Dr. Andrew Hollins (PhD 2001) to tell you more about Future Leaders in Cancer Research. I graduated in 2000 with a degree in Zoology. Originally it wasn't my first choice of University, until I went to have a look around, and fell in love with the place. I'm so glad I went there, brilliant course and a fab tight knit community, makes it a home from home, with all the amenities of a big city on your doorstep. The best! I would do it all again :-)

I graduated from Cardiff with a PhD in Manufacturing Engineering in the May of 2010. I still can't forget the beautiful memories I owe to that amazing city called Cardiff and of course Cardiff University. The center I studied at was called the Manufacturing Engineering Center MEC, headed by Prof Duc Truong Pham (OBE). I had an opportunity to meet and interact with a diverse group of individuals from varying backgrounds. Cardiff is still fresh in my mind and will continue to be for the rest of my life. I love you Cardiff!
