Cardiff University Biobank

A centralised biobanking facility based at the University Hospital of Wales.

The Cardiff University Biobank is housed in a brand new, purpose-built facility at the University Hospital of Wales. The facility provides a large storage space for up to 900, 000 biological samples including blood, urine, tissue and saliva. Researchers make requests to access these samples to undertake medical and scientific research which is entirely for patient benefit, and not for financial profit.

We will be looking for people aged 0-99 and beyond to donate samples to the Biobank! If you are receiving treatment at one of the hospitals we cover, you may be approached by a member of staff to ask you to donate to the Biobank. If you are healthy, we may want you to come into our facility and donate some samples. All samples will be allocated an anonymous ID so that no identifiable information is given to the researcher.
