Cardigan Bay Marine Wildlife Centre (Cbmwc) Description

Cardigan Bay Marine Wildlife Centre, based in New Quay, west Wales is dedicated to raising awareness of the local marine environment in Cardigan Bay and the Irish Sea. The CBMWC was originally established in 1996 by members of the local community, run by a marine interest group of the local Wildlife Trust. From the 1st April 2015 the CBMWC became fully integrated into the Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales (WTSWW) and delivers much of the Trusts Living Seas program of work as well as hosting the Living Seas Marine Team of staff and volunteers.

Sightings Update 26/07/19: Bottlenose dolphins Our #LivingSeas volunteers conducted surveys from 7am-7pm yesterday. Bottlenose dolphins were seen periodically throughout the day. The groups of dolphins were observed travelling and foraging throughout the day and were also seen leaping out of the water! ūüź¨ūüź¨ūüĆä

Sightings Update 25/07/19: Bottlenose dolphins & Atlantic grey seals
Our #LivingSeas volunteers conducted surveys from 7am-5pm in the beautiful sunshine yesterday. Bottlenose dolphins were seen intermittently, travelling and foraging in the bay.ūüĆäūüź¨ūüĆě
Two boat surveys were also conducted on board the Anna Lloyd with Dolphin Survey Boat Trips. Both trips had great sightings of Bottlenose dolphins and Atlantic Grey Seals!ūüõ•

Sightings Update: 24/07/19: Bottlenose dolphins and Atlantic grey seals Greetings from sunny New Quay The only dolphin sighting from land yesterday was at 7am when a juvenile was seen travelling east across the bay. During the following survey an Atlantic grey seal was seen off the headland. Meanwhile three lucky #Livingseas volunteers went out on the Anna Lloyd of Dolphin Survey Boat Trips. During the three surveys there were recorded four sightings of Atlantic grey seals ...and five groups of bottlenose dolphins. A total of 11 dolphins were sighted and various behaviours observed including normal swim and head slapping.

Sightings Update 23/07/2019: Bottlenose dolphins and Atlantic grey seals
Our #LivingSeas volunteers conducted surveys from 7am-7pm yesterday. Bottlenose dolphins with a juvenile were seen throughout the day foraging and travelling around the harbour.
#LivingSeas volunteers also conducted boat surveys aboard the Anna Lloyd with Dolphin Survey Boat Trips where bottlenose dolphins and Atlantic grey seals were observed. The seals were seen bottling and swimming in the water whil...st the dolphins were foraging, leaping and throwing fish!ūüź¨ūüĆä

Sightings Update 21/07/2019: Bottlenose Dolphins and an Atlantic grey seal
Our Living Seas volunteers conducted four surveys yesterday with bottlenose dolphins seen throughout the day, foraging in the bay and socialising in front of the harbour wall before travelling through the bay to forage further out. An Atlantic grey seal was also seen briefly travelling through the bay ūüĆäūüź¨.

Sightings Update 20/07/19: Bottlenose dolphins and an Atlantic grey seal
Our #Livingseas volunteers conducted surveys from 7am-5pm yesterday. Bottlenose dolphins were seen during two of the surveys and an Atlantic grey seal made an appearance. Dolphins were seen foraging, leaping and tail slapping for over 2 hours! ūüź¨ūüĆä

Sightings Update 18/07/19: Bottlenose dolphins and an Atlantic grey seal
Our #livingseas volunteers conducted six surveys yesterday with bottlenose dolphins seen throughout two of these surveys. They were seen leaping, bow riding and chasing prey at the surface. An Atlantic grey seal was also seen surfacing briefly in the evening ūüź¨ūüĆä.

Sightings Update 17/07/19: Bottlenose dolphins & Atlantic grey seal Dolphins were spotted by our #Livingseas Volunteer in the afternoon foraging offshore between the headland and the Cardinal buoy. Eight individuals were identified including one juvenile. A female Atlantic grey seal was also observed swimming in front of the harbour wall. One survey was undertaken yesterday during which our #LivingSeas Volunteer spotted five bottlenose dolphins including one juvenile. They... were observed foraging and leaping whilst travelling in a south easterly direction. There were also several sightings of Atlantic grey seals along the coast totaling 10 individuals. Records of jellyfish are continuing with large numbers of compass and barrel jellyfish being spotted.

Sightings Update 10/07/2019: The Cardigan Bay big three
Our #LivingSeas volunteers enjoyed the sunny weather as they conducted surveys from 7am-7pm yesterday. Bottlenose dolphins were seen during the morning surveys foraging and leaping ūüĆäūüź¨.
One of our living seas volunteers also conducted a boat survey on board the Sulaire with Dolphin Survey Boat Trips. The Cardigan Bay big three were seen with four harbour porpoise, five bottlenose dolphins and four atlantic grey seals been... seen! ūüĆäūüõ•
