About Carnegie House
Carnegie House is an exciting new arts and culture venue in Bridgend town centre for arts events, classes, workshops and live performance.
Carnegie House Description
Carnegie House is a former Public Library building erected in 1907 with a grant of £2000 from Scottish-American businessman and philanthropist Andrew Carnegie.
The aim of Carnegie House Arts & Culture Hub is to provide a high standard of Art and Cultural events and activities in Bridgend Town Centre. This will include a programme of professional art and cultural events as well as community activities that encourage local people to get involved in the arts in all its different aspects.
Uses of the venue will include live performance, arts classes, workshops, musical events and exhibitions.
Carnegie House is currently developing a programme of events, art & culture classes and has rooms are available for hire for arts events or business meetings.

Circus Academy 17.30-19.00 at Evergreen Hall, Angel Street, CF31 4AD Samba Band 18.30-20.00 at Sony Theatre, Bridgend College, Cowbridge Road, CF31 3DF The Sony theatre is in the middle of the campus. If you are driving then head to the main college entrance on Cowbridge Road and follow the main car park around to the right through two sets of barriers. You'll see signs for SONY theatre. If you are walking from town, the closest pedestrian entrance is on the right of the main buildings, go straight through the car park and you'll see the Sony building on the left in front of you.

Come and join us to learn a selection of rhythms on a range of instruments to re-create the sound of a Brazilian carnival. With tutor Sallie Maclennan. All ages and abilities welcome and all instruments are provided.

To celebrate the Roots Festival in the town centre, Carnegie House will be hosting the next in our series of Art About Town workshops. Drop in for free to join our artist in residence Claire Hiett to make carnival peg dolls.
To celebrate the Roots Festival in the town centre, Organised Kaos will be taking to the streets outside Carnegie House to run a Circus skills workshop. Learn to unicycle, juggle, spin plates and many more tricks to wow your family and friends. Suitable for all ages and abilities. Come and join in the fun for free!
Afon Sistema are coming to Bridgend to perform in the Roots Festival parade! Twice winners of Bath Carnival, this Bristol-based band have performed as far afield as Glasgow and France. Hailing from Northern Brazil, Maracatu is Samba's earthier cousin, using hide covered wooden bass drums, shakers, bells and snares. To celebrate the Roots Festival in Bridgend town centre, Carnegie House has invited Afon Sistema to share their compelling beats in a Maracatu drumming workshop.The workshop is run by Jackson Lapes, Musical Director of Afon Sistema plus members of the band. The session is free and will take place in Carnegie House after the parade at 15.30-16.15.

Carnegie house is a hidden gem within our local town Bridgend. A diligent team of staff at this historical building filled with beautiful features and a healing energy which is rare. A focal point for our community, such a pleasure to have interaction with this venue. It has been a privilege and a pleasure to hold and attend events here.
