The Carps is an Alternative Venue with a traditional setting.
Carpenters, Newport Description
The Carpenters, the oldest public house in Newport is recorded to have been established in Medieval 1403, it is said there are still cells in the foundations!
On offer is a great drinks selection with all your favourite beers and guest ales all at fantastic value.
All Barclays Premier league Football matches exclusively on Sky Sports and BT Sport are shown. We have 10 LCD screens in HD and a big screen projector so you can enjoy every sporting occasion in the comfort of The Carpenters. While on the sports theme the pub pays homage to 16 of NewportвҖҷs finest rugby & football greats via especially commissioned paintings.
And as of 2014 we'll be the only venue in the city to show all of the 2014 /15 NFL season with OVER 85 regular season games shown, plus the playoffs and finishing with the Super Bowl.
We have 2 pool tables along with a mezzanine floor for a quiet zone adn topped off with a 10, 000 track rock jukebox.
What ever your tastes in either sport, music or beer we've got it covered!

As did the Phoenix we are rising from the Ashes!! The Carps Quiz is back!!! Don't worry there's not much of a change for those who were with us 2 years ago but for the newcomers it'll be a nice change to the usual mundane "run of the mill" quizzes you'll be used to. We start at 8:30pm. It's ВЈ2 per person and a maximum team of 5. Look forward to seeing you there.

Nearly every pub I go to in Newport I love.me and my mate are from the Rhondda and there's no place better to go for a drink than Newport.and even better the price of pints there is cheaper than anywhere else.much rather have a pint in the carpenters or anywhere else in Newport.

Amazing pub. Great music , the hot dogs are awesome and the guy serving them is always happy to do so . Love the soft drinks here as well , good range of juices . Nice to see they have fruit shoots for the kids . Always leave this place with a smile on my face !
Came down for the recent Leeds game (well done newport btw) good atmosphere good pub..locals good craic..better than Cardiff!!
