First time I've been to the Castle since the makeover and it was absolutely gorgeous. From the staff who were waiting the table, to reception staff and the chef.

Food was divine, I had mashed potatoes and sausages of 3 different varieties. They were cooked to perfection and the onion gravy was simply moreish!

My parents both had a dinner with fresh vegetables and gravy and the meat was tender and falling apart. Each mouthfull was followed by an "mmmm". My father in particular likes typical pub grub/ British hearty meals. This meal was most definitely filling!

The ambience was wonderful with attentive staff checking we had everything we wanted and the glasses and cutlery were spotlessly clean.

The whole room was very inviting when you enter it, large dark wood tables and comfortable chairs in an elegant surround. Attention to detail made it look like a very pricey restaurant with each wine glass having a red napkin sticking out if the top but the prices were just perfect.

Very impressed!

I would like to thank the very helpful receptionist today, who allowed me to use their WC facility despite not being a guest. Thank you so very much.

Beautiful old building but refurbished to be modern as you like. The regular double room was small yet luxuriously furnished. Stayed here on business. The staff were lovely and the restaurant served incredible food. My only tiny gripe was that the beds were somewhat hard but unless you're 85, you can probably live with that!

Old world charm, could do with a little touch up but the fantastic staff and great food more than make up for this. Stayed 3 times and can't recommend it enough.😍😘

Last time passed through Neath noticed the Castle was under going a quite extensive refurbishment! Can't wait to see what they have done. Looked pretty smart from the view through the window!.

Newly refurbished bar looks good, only issue is that the bar staff were a little green. Friend asked for a gin and tonic only to be told they don't have gin! There was a large bottle of Gordons on the optics, hopefully they will get better. Not bad otherwise.

Went for a wedding with the whole meal in the day and evening buffet/ disco on the night. Overall everything was excellent, the meal in the day was nice and well presented as were all of the staff, the ceremony was well organised. One problem with the ceremony I think was the fact that they had covered up a wooden dance floor with carpet to match the rest of the room, this was later removed when it was over and time for the disco, but while it was down it provided a pretty dangerous trip hazard which multiple people stumbled over myself included with a baby in my arms. Maybe gluing some velcro to the rug/ carpet would help? Anyway smallish issue. One other problem was the toilets which although you could tell had been cleaned well, were not smelling great. I don't think this is really a cleanliness issue or fault of the staff in anyway but, more so that they are just old and in dire need of a refurbishment. The urinals which are cut into the floor and tiled over (think rain guttering system next to a wall in the floor"l) were very clean but the grouting between the tiles had yellowed and broken down completely in some areas and I think that this is probably the main cause of the smell. I wouldn't really let this put you off as I'm sure most men don't expect too much from toilets in general and its a bit less of an issue as it is for the ladies as we don't really have to touch anything when we have a wee. I cannot comment on the state of the ladies. Overall great day and night and thanks to all of the staff who were pretty excellent.

Lovely surroundings in the bar. Guinness was a little flat but we ordered bar snacks of onion rings and chips which were not only in generous portions for the price, they were delicious.
