Good food, lovely staff, play area and toys in the back, free Welsh cakes made by nanna

Visited here on a rainy Saturday evening with no booking. Luckily the hostess was able to accommodate us and we were shown to a table. We were served relatively quickly given how busy they were. We had starters (crumbed brie and black pudding with poached egg) which were great, followed by our mains (belly pork and rib eye steak) which again was great!!! We finished off the meal by sharing a scrumptious carrot cake.. All in all, I can only say that I highly recommend The Castle Inn.

We went there for a wedding reception and the staff were extremely welcoming and accommodating. The food was really great too and they even opened the kitchen earlier for us to eat before 6. I would recommend it for anyone looking to stay in the area. The only reason this isn't a 5 star review is because of the particularly intimidating glares and stares from the locals propping up the bar when we arrived, but thankfully the restaurant areas are completely separate.

Excellent value, large attic room in a pub on Usk's beautiful square. Quirky with low beams. Friendly atmosphere.

An impromptu decision to visit the Castle Inn after dropping our daughter to her prom near by. So glad we did!!

The Castle is under new management (4 weeks at the time of writing) and if their quality of food is to go by at this initial point in time is anything to go by, then this place is going to become very popular.

The food was delicious and very efficiently delivered. Presentation was excellent.

Sometimes, spur of the moment decisions always turn out for the best and I'm so glad we made the right decision to visit this great place.

A last minute booking and only read the reviews afterwards, so we were a little pensive, as the reviews were mixed! This is a gem of a 15th C Inn. The room and en-suite were spacious, clean and comfortable. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and the food, both in the evening and at breakfast, could not be faulted. The Inn is run by a smashing couple who deserve to make a success of it. We have paid a great deal more for a great deal less in much more 'up-market' hotels. Should we find ourselves in this part of Wales again, we will not hesitate to stay at the Castle Inn.

Nice enough for an overnight stay. Good breakfast.
