Please help save Cefn Fforest Workingmen's Institute! It is possibly the only one of two Workingmen's Institute of its type. Opened in 1932 and payed for by the toil of the miners of Cefn Fforest, this building once served its community as a place for self improvement. We want the building to play a major role in improving the lives of the community once again in the 21st century.

Welcome to the Facebook page for Cefn Fforest and Pengam Ecopark. The Ecopark was founded in 1999 by the Association for Community & Environment (ACE). It is now managed by the Friends of the Ecopark, and twenty years on it is still going strong. It was the first community managed Ecopark in the UK and has inspired many others since its inception. Our Ecopark provides the communities of Cefn Fforest and Pengam with much needed green open space, making an invaluable contribution to the health and wellbeing of local people.

I walk pretty much the entire Ecopark at least twice a week. It's truly breath-taking this time of year. Some of the paths are a bit overgrown, but it's still areal pleasure to walk around, plenty of wildlife too!

Caerphilly Council may demolish Cefn Fforest Miners Institute! Our fathers, grand-fathers and great-grand-fathers paid for this building from their toil and sometimes with their lives whilst working underground. They built these buildings to provide opportunities for the community to educate themselves and enjoy what little leisure time they had. It is our duty to honour their memory by saving and restoring this building for future generations.

The idea behind the Islwyn Voice Facebok Group is to give the residents of the Islwyn a place to air their views about our constituency. How we feel about it now and how we would like it to be in the future. A place to comment on the way Islwyn is represented politically, it's culture and relevance in the 21st century. The more people who join the group the more representative it will be of the views of Islwyn residents and that can send an important message to our politicians - councillors, MP and AM. PLEASE JOIN AND ADD YOUR VOICE TO THE GROUP!
