Thinking of all the lovely people I've worked with recently who have lost father figures from their families. I think of my own beloved Dad every day but always with a smile on my face and gratitude in my heart for all he did for me and the person he helped me to become πŸ’œπŸ’«πŸ™πŸΌ

I would be so grateful if my local friends could share details of this event. Certain local print press have let us down so the more we can get the message out - the better!
Come along, be enlightened and communicate your final wishes to your loved ones!

Come and meet all types of funeral industry professionals, break down the taboos and take the fear and mystery out of death and what happens surrounding a funeral.
Through this free and open to the public event, you will be able to find out about the various options available and considerations to bear in mind. There will be suggestions of personal touches that families can arrange themselves to create a unique funeral service. Industry experts will be on hand to answer any questions you may have. This is not a sales event; there will be space for informal discussions over refreshments for anyone who just wants to start #TheBigConversation and think about their own wishes.

**** EXCITING NEWS **** I am organising a free community event for people to come along and speak to experts in the funeral care and post-death industry to help dispel myths and break down taboos and get people talking about #TheBigConversation - what do you want to happen after you die?
~ Burial or Cremation? ~ Traditional and Sombre or Unconventional and Colourful?... ~ Small and modest or a big party celebrating your fabulous life? ~ Religious, Spiritual or Humanist? Or a bit of all 3! ~ What will you wear? ~ What can you take with you?
~ HAVE IT YOUR WAY ~
DON'T LEAVE IT TOO LATE TO MAKE YOUR WISHES KNOWN!
The evening will be held at the Cardiff & Glamorgan Crematorium (on Port Road, Barry) the evening of Wednesday 16th May from 5.30 as part of the Dying Matters Awareness Week (www.dyingmatters.org)
Come along for cakes and a cuppa and find out about different options and personal touches to add to a funeral to make the day special, be involved and help with healing.
This is not a sales event; it’s a chance to find out information and perhaps start off an awkward conversation you have been putting off for too long. More information can be found at www.cherishedmemories.wales.
Feel free to share this with people you think might be interested in coming - the more the merrier!
Let's start #TheBigConversation!

There was a really thought provoking piece on the Jeremy Vine show today (BBC Radio 2) about one's Digital Legacy. Should our nearest & dearest be able to access the photos from our computers, the contacts from our smart phones and can anyone inherit our itunes library?
Has anyone thought of this or made their wishes known to their loved-ones? Have you shared or noted your passwords within your will? Are your devices only accessed by your thumb print - if so, you may need to... reconsider.
It is worth a listen! Available till end of April

I am blessed to have my darling Mum with me today and, as every year, I will take her to Church, spoil her and cherish her as she is my biggest cheerleader, my best friend and my world.
I understand how difficult and emotional this day can be for those whose Mothers have passed on and my heart truly goes out you. I hope you are able to mark this day in what ever way helps you with your feelings. (quiet thoughts, looking through photo albums, chocolate!)
I read the following a...rticle this morning (Huff Post UK) and it has some lovely ideas of ways to honour your loved ones, tips of how to cope with the day ahead and of how to help keep Mum's memory alive.
Please share this with friends and family who you think may get some comfort from it. πŸ’›

What was going to be a rather dull admin day has turned out nice ......and its a sunny day in Barry so that's an extra bonus!
I have received a nice thank you letter from a family I did a service for last week, a lovely email from the family of a really touching funeral I delivered yesterday (can't help but take some people to your heart) ........ and then two lovely new (to me) Funeral Directors have asked me to work with them on forthcoming services. So I am looking forw...ard to working with Roath Court and Rosemount in delivering beautiful services for their families.
I truly love what I do but I hate that my 'success' is brought to me by the heartbreak of others.

Odd sensation .....feeling the warm tears of a stranger on my own cheek after they hugged me, following a funeral.
But in a way, a big compliment that this lady (who I'd never met) felt she could approach and embrace me. I've got cwtches for all who need one!
... It was a lovely service - I love it when families really get involved and write and then read their own personal tributes - it's a tall order, I appreciate, but can be so cathartic. πŸ’«

I am so glad that 'Old Peoples home for 4 year olds' did a Christmas edition highlighting the plight of the elderly, bereaved and alone is so humbling.
Age UK are doing fantastic job bring it to the attention of the public. The statistics noted in the Campaign to end Loneliness is heartbreaking.
I'm so grateful for the support I've had for the 'Spirit of Christmas' project I set up this year. These are the people I hoped to reach out to and make Christmas just s little bit ...easier.
All the gifts have been allocated to care homes, hospital wards, senior's community groups and various individuals nominated.

There is still a week left if you want to donate a gift to the SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS appeal I am running this year.
Gifts will be given to elderly/ bereaved / isolated people within the Vale who don't expect to receive anything and will be cheered up knowing that they are being thought of by others at this time of year.
One Care Home where some of the gifts are being donated to have 12 residents who never have any visitors - that is just heartbreaking!
... I know it won't change their world .........but for us who are fortunate to have loved ones, it is a nice to share in the true spirit of Christmas and will give you a warm fuzzy feeling of loveliness, I hope. We have had in about 80 gifts so far but it would be great to get that up to 100!
Details of the Funeral homes who have kindly agreed to take in donations are detailed on the poster below - Go and say hello to them, they are all gorgeous people!
