To add to the grappling appearances this weekend, CRA Bristol / Impact Gym had three MMA fighters step into the cage at Cage Warriors 100. The first of these athletes to represent was Chris Sterling who managed to impress with a unanimous decision, earning the right to be able to call himself the European Amateur Grand Prix Featherweight champion! Oban Elliott then amazed the crowd at Cardiff's Viola Arena with a very quick rear naked choke victory in the first round, bringin...g his record to 7-0 with 7 finishes and earning the right to call himself the European Amateur Grand Prix Welterweight champion! Unfortunately Michael Corston did not walk away with his hand raised on this occasion but he will be back in 2019 to make an impact on the pro MMA scene.
To kick off the grappling at Polaris the night following cage warriors, Swansea's Shane Price stepped on to to the mat against a tough opponent and despite not ultimately being victorious, made his team proud as always and will no doubt learn from the experience.
CRA athletes represented the club far and wide this weekend and it is amazing to see the club's logo on our fighters at these shows in both grappling and MMA. These sports naturally bring highs and lows but if there's one thing for sure, it is that 2019 will be a very big year for CRA!

An incredible amount of CRA members put it on the line this weekend! With both MMA and Jiu Jitsu, adults and kids, the club was represented thoroughly and as always, we are extremely proud of everybody who put themselves out there. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ To start off the jiu jitsu side of things, CRA black belt John Maflin travelled to Ireland for the Dublin International Open. Unfortunately things didn't go as planned in his weight class however John did manage to pull off a calf slic...er win in the open weight division and ended up taking home a well earned bronze medal as well as gaining a lot of experience against some very high level competition, well done John! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Lots of the team then travelled to Cardiff for the GRIP grappling event with members of CRA Swansea, Saru, CRA Bristol and CRA Bridgend all stepping foot on to the mats to compete. Took my 3 year old son to see what it was like and I was really impressed! He had never been to a class before and was entertained the whole time. He learned a lot and the classes are really good value for money! Very friendly atmosphere. Highly recommended

Jayden has been going to the academy since September and it’s so lovely to see him waking up and looking forward to getting on the mats. As cheesy as it sounds he really does live for jujitsu. The coaches are fab and it’s brilliant and warming to see that each coach knows each child individually, you really are made to feel part of a family whilst there with Katie and Ashley at the reception with smiles and warm greetings and able to give advice on classes and gi’s and the clothing range to Chris, Ashley, Ross, Ben, Scott, Aidan, Ashley for support and encouragement on and off the mats. We really can’t thank you enough for how much you have encouraged Jayden that he can be a great sportsman from a young age!

I'm a student at Pontardawe CRA and I come down to the main academy for extra training. Like always all the instructors are super knowledgeable and very methodical in their teaching I could not recommend the Chris Rees academy enough

Grate academy always a friendly atmosphere and top quality coaches

Every positive thing in my life comes back to the first time I stepped in to the Chris Ress academy. Chris teaches you skills that will help you on the mats and in your day to day life. The friends you make will be friends for life and I can't recommend this place enough.
