Very much enjoyed the time spent on and off the water with Roger, picked up plenty of good direction and invaluable experience and all in very good company too.

Great weekend. Lots learned and put into practice. Also had some amazing wildlife experiences. Thanks Roger - your teaching style and calm approach made for a very enjoyable and productive weekend.

I have had seven days worth of coaching with Roger Chandler (Coastal Spirit) on two separate courses over the latter part of 2016. The fact that I have three further courses booked with Roger in 2017 should hopefully speak for itself: he is an inspiring coach with a wonderful ability to impart knowledge and help develop skills in a way that quickly builds confidence and capability. Above all that, he is a thoroughly nice chap! I would highly recommend Coastal Spirit for anyone looking to develop their kayaking skills, at whatever level.

I have just completed my first Coastal Spirit course, which I joined with the aim of testing my boat handling skills in more challenging conditions than I was used to and building confidence in my core skills. I found Roger to be an insightful, student-centred coach who brought the perfect blend of challenge, instruction, encouragement, support and fun to the weekend. I felt immediately at ease with his warm and friendly manner and the constructive way in which everyone was included in the day's planning. Once on the water, Roger very quickly assesses where you are with your paddling and has a light touch approach that helps you to relax and find confidence in your skills. He imparts his experience and understanding of wind, tide and geology through discussion, demonstration and practice, subtly encouraging you to push boundaries whilst always feeling safe and supported. Roger's Coastal Spirit ethos embodies a holistic approach to mind, body and the beautiful environment in which he operates. I came away with greater knowledge, improved boat handling, increased confidence and, most importantly, a huge smile on my face!

Since Sept 2016 I have now completed a total of seven days coaching which included 4* training. Roger is a superb coach, he builds your confidence on the water enabling you to develop skills and push your boundaries very quickly. He is very knowledgeable in both physical and mental sides of coaching, quickly identifying areas for development and the obstacles hindering progress. You will not be disappointed booking a course with Roger, his skills also extend off the water to running a very efficient office with excellent communication.

Fantastic kayaking in the most beautiful part of the world with some of the best flows you'll ever find. Add in great tuition and good humour from Roger and you have the perfect ingredients to get out on the water. I can't recommend Coastal Spirit highly enough. I have kayaked with them on many occasions and never been disappointed.
