My name is Shane Oberlin, and I am honored that you would take time out of your busy day to read this blog.

Conquering Kingdoms as a concept, is many things to many people. To those who will not understand, it is the “intolerant” ravings of a “Jesus freak. ” To others, it is the misguided and pointless attempt of a young man to bring positive change the culture in which he lives. To me, Conquering Kingdoms is a lifestyle, a mandate, a purpose.

As a follower of the teachings and lifestyle of the only Son of God, Jesus Christ; I look at the term “Conquering Kingdoms” as a lifestyle that intentionally and actively overthrows the entrenched spiritual hierarchies and principalities over cities and states, families and regions, nations and ethnic groups; bringing the dominion of darkness into submission to the authority of Christ, through the power of the Holy Spirit.

I do not see it as a revolutionary call to overthrow earthly governments, or to cast off all restraint, because the institution of human civil government is ordained by God at its very essence. I oppose the use of any of my writings as a platform for, or an excuse to, partake of vigilante justice through anarchy, physical violence, or anything of the sort.

The name “Conquering Kingdoms” originates from one of my favorite biblical passages. Hebrews 11, is commonly known as “the faith chapter, ” and I love it because it reminds me of the immense power that lies within my faith in God. Verses 32-40 are especially significant to me, and to this blog.

32 “And what more shall I say? For time will fail me if I tell of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, of David and Samuel and the prophets,
33 who by faith conquered kingdoms, performed [acts of] righteousness, obtained promises, shut the mouths of lions,
34 quenched the power of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, from weakness were made strong, became mighty in war, put foreign armies to flight.
35 Women received [back] their dead by resurrection; and others were tortured, not accepting their release, so that they might obtain a better resurrection;
36 and others experienced mockings and scourgings, yes, also chains and imprisonment.
37 They were stoned, they were sawn in two, they were tempted, they were put to death with the sword; they went about in sheepskins, in goatskins, being destitute, afflicted, ill-treated
38([men] of whom the world was not worthy), wandering in deserts and mountains and caves and holes in the ground.
39 And all these, having gained approval through their faith, did not receive what was promised,
40 because God had provided something better for us, so that apart from us they would not be made perfect. ”

Through our faith, we have the power to conquer ideologies, mindsets, paradigms, and any other thing that exalts itself to the place of God. I hope that you will join me on this journey, because I can’t wait to share it all with you!
