Yesterday, the Gorseinon and Llwchwr Covid-19 team surprised our PPU volunteers with an afternoon tea treat delivered to their door 😋
Some of the Cream Tea boxes were provided by Jinny's who also wrote the volunteers a thank you note. I have had nothing but compliments about the presentation and contents. Thank you Jinny's.
Jinny will also donate 50p from each Cream Tea box sold to the Gorseinon and Llwchwr Food Hub 👏

Yesterday, the Gorseinon and Llwchwr Covid-19 team decided to surprise some of our PPU volunteers with an afternoon tea delivered to their door.
Some of the Afternoon Tea boxes were provided by Lotties takeaway, cafe and buffet services who even wrote the volunteers a little thank you card. I'm told they were thoroughly enjoyed. Thank you Lotties.
A well deserved treat 😋

Very happy with this announcement from our Assembly Member Rebecca Evans MS
This is a collaboration scheme between Gorseinon and Penyrheol and includes:
*extending the 20mph zone to cover the frontage of Penyrheol Comprehensive School, along Pontardulais Road... *the installation of a Toucan Crossing immediately by the school. *the construction of a new shared use path linking the community directly to the Swansea Bay Silver Cycle Route. *the introduction of a new 20mph speed limit which will link to existing 20mph speed limits elsewhere in the town, particularly on routes to the schools and towards the bus interchange. *upgrading the existing zebra crossing facility in this location to a puffin crossing. *other works include improvements to signal control junctions and the provision of cycle parking in the centre of the town.

Hi everyone, once again Lissa Stokes is helping her local community. This time for Gorseinon Hospital staff.
Lissa is organising small gift bags for staff as a little treat, but also because their hands and skin are very dry after all of the hand washing.
If you are able to help you can either make up a little gift bag or donate to Lissa's wish list via amazon and she will make up the bag for you (link below).
... Each bag can contain anything you want to put in it, but to give you an idea, Lissa has been putting in:
*hand cream *chocolate treats *small toiletry item (nice bubble bath for example) *a thank you card. *all in a small gift bag
You can personalise your bag however you like. .
If you would like to make up a bag please contact Lissa (tagged in the comments below).

Today's shout out goes to Siany Bevan, Karen Marie and Debra Jones. What these three have achieved this week is truly amazing.
Siany contacted me on Monday with an idea about collecting food for the foodhub.. On Tuesday the page 'On the Wall: Gorseinon and Llwchwr Food Hub' was set up. The idea is simple. Ask people to put a tin or two on their wall and volunteers will come and collect them. By Wednesday, the group had over 500 members, people in the community had started org...anising their streets and Siany, Karen and Debra started collecting
This is day three and what has been delivered to the Foodhub today, so far. I say this a lot, but honestly we have the best community. All someone has to do is ask for help and people literally rally around. As a result, we have a well stocked foodhub.
At the Foodhub we have never said no to anyone who has requested a food parcel, and because of these donations the quality and quantity of a food parcel is nutritious and includes enough to last a person (or family) 7 days+.
Well done ladies 👏

On the wall: Gorseinon and Llwchwr Food Hub is a new initiative set up by volunteers who are asking you to place a tin or two on your wall for them to collect and donate to the foodhub.
Join the page below, keep and eye out for when they are in your area and pop something on the wall. You can even help out by organising your street or area, collecting for us, and letting us know when you want us to pick up.
Bear in mind that volunteers work full time, so please give us notic...e and time to come and collect.
Amazing community spirit once again 👏

At the Gorseinon and Llwchwr Food Hub, volunteers take their role very seriously and literally crawl into bags to make sure they get every last donation out 😁

Gorseinon and Llwchwr Food Hub would like to thank Gorseinon Town Council, Llwchwr Town Council and Grovesend Community Council for their generous grants.
We have been very fortunate to receive £2500 between the three.
This money will be used to purchase food and toiletries for those who find themselves financially affected by the current Covid-19 pandemic.

Today's shout out goes to Sue Reed, Peter Beynon, Arron Bevan-John, Richard Holohan and all of those working tirelessly to make sure people across Swansea have access to food.
These amazing council officers usually work in the Community, Partnership and Destination Development Team in Cultural Services, however almost overnight had to change roles and became the team tasked with distributing food to Foodhubs across Swansea.
They help us here at the Gorseinon and Llwchwr Food Hub, supplying us with any food that we are low on and supporting us whenever we need it. Da iawn pawb 👏

I put a request out for donations of toiletries two days ago for the Gorseinon and Llwchwr Food Hub. Yesterday, Codi (my son) and I went Foodhub shopping to top up and I noticed the Foodbank trolley filling up lovely.
I just got sent this picture.. Amazing.. 48 hours later and the trolley is full to the brim with toiletries and food 👏
If you see a smaller trolley next to it, with a 'donate wine here' sign, that is for me. I will check back in 48 hours 😉

**The Radiology department at Morriston hospital need our help**
Staff in the radiology department wash their hands before and after every patient, as well as after cleansing the rooms. They also apply hand gel several times an hour. This is very tough on their skin and they need hand cream to help.
If you are able to help, you can:
... *Purchase creams and drop them in the Asda/Sainsburys Foodbank trolleys.
*deliver creams to 40 Princess Street, Gorseinon, on Wednesday and Thursday between 11-1pm.
*contact Lissa Stokes (tagged in the comments as I cannot tag people in my posts 🀷‍♀) and she will come and collect.
Many thanks for your continued support.

*Reposting this - all you need to do is ask*
If you (or a family member/friend) are struggling on a low income, or are struggling to adapt on less of an income due to Covid-19, and find you are running out of food, please contact us (details below).
The Gorseinon Food Hub has been set up for everyone. No one should go to sleep on an empty stomach or worried about where their next meal is coming from.
... Do not be embarrassed to ask, no one will ever know. Take it when you need it and give back when you can.
Just phone or message your name, address, number, how many in the household (including age of children), if you prefer tea or coffee, if you have any pets and any dietary requirements.
A box will be dropped at your door (currently on a Tuesday or a Thursday). The box will contain fresh fruit and veg, cereals, tinned meat, beans, soup, pasta, pasta sauces, tea, coffee, squash, some treats and toiletries (when we have them).
We cover Gorseinon, Penyrheol, Loughor, Grovesend, and Kingsbridge.
