About Cross Foxes

This is a local’s local. Often you can come here on a sunny evening, sit in the conservatory looking up the river, and watch the fishermen in their waders casting flies for salmon. If you wanted to show an American friend a classic British pub, this would fit the bill nicely.

One for the close of play....

User

quick stop off on our cycling route and it was a lovely pit stop for some food and refreshment, sat out in the sun overlooking the Dee what a fantastic setting, Tandoori Halloumi was to die for.

User

My wife and I went on 15th May for a quick bite to eat and a drink. The pub always has good ales on and it was no different trying the Cumberland and another bitter which name escapes me today. We both had the bacon, Brie and cranberry ciabatta sandwich which was gorgeous. With a side of chunky chips it was the perfect snack in the perfect venue with it being a beautiful day. If the weather permits sitting outside is great as the views are stunning. If not, you can still see the outside and inside is a good homely venue.

User

My hubby and I had lunch today with my Mum the view from the conservatory is really lovely looking up the river. The food was really delicious and the service also great I would really recommend it well worth the drive from Shrewsbury.

User

Mmmmmmm scrumptious, what is there not to like. The staff are so friendly, our meals were delicious, the lemon cheesecake with raspberry sorbet were to die for .... thank you.

User

Lucky with the weather ,so we sat outside at lunchtime great location, staff very friendly,my steak sandwich was perfect,2 very satisfied visitors, recommended by family who live in the area, how right they were

User

Lovely food , chicken and leek pie can be recommended and had great view of the River Dee. Partners burger was very nice also. Prices are a little on the high side but worth it for the view and service.

User

Love this place the location is peaceful overlooking the river so picturesque, plenty of Choice on the Menu and the food is amazing !!! Good choice of Gin and draught Ales, spoilt for choice. Lunch or evening meal, this place is well worth a try., we travel from Newcastle under Lyme about 1hr drive away but so worth it., well done guys see you soon Pamela & Peter Platt

User

Just stopped off for a bite to eat as I remember the food was lovely here the last time we visited. Once again it was delicious!!

Hot, top quality and presented very well. We will certainly be visiting again very soon!!

User

Jason Benton was with me last night at Cross Foxes. He was with his partner Lynda Rogerson and my wife Irene. We come here regularly, we live local but they like it that much they travel from Northwich which speaks volumes for the food. Last night was no exception.

User

Great food, lovely staff and good service, also a beautiful setting, can't ask for more,

User

Fabulous Fabulous Fabulous Couldn’t Fault the food, it was to die for ........ chicken n ham (No Ordinary) pie with White Wine n Tarragon sauce OMG I Have to go back for more ! Service was very good too ....

User

Excellent food, drinks and service when we celebrated our wedding anniversary with friends. Not the cheapest menu in the area but you get what you pay for. Will definitely return.

User

Called in tonight didn't book however they found us a table - lovely meal and excellent service the Land lady was very pleasant we will be back x

User

Beautiful setting, good service, great menu selection and excellent food. Our first visit but definitely somewhere to return to and would recommend without hesitation. It was fully booked for the evening but when we arrived on spec they looked at the booking times and found us a table where they could accommodate us earlier.

User

Amazing food , definitely recommend this country pub , if I did have a complaint it would be that the service was not very fast ..

User

Always love our meals here as it is so relaxing by the river ,but we eat at all the Gunning &Price restaurants, as well ,as we know we get a fab meal &good service xx

User

1st time visiting here and can't fault it. Lovely setting, helpful pleasant staff. We both had a starter, and the lamb shank for our main it was delicious, and the Christmas envelope is a great idea to visit again very soon

User

We were there just yesterday . Having been before and had a lovely meal , we thought we'd return . The service was good , staff were very friendly and helpful . Only the food wasn't as good . The linguini was spaghetti and the garlic focaccia was burnt and the 10oz steak, asked to be cooked medium /rare was medium and not a 10oz and more like an 8 oz , definitely wasn't worth £22 .

The setting and the view is lovely but on this particular visit, we felt it hadn't lived up to our expectations at all .

User

Really enjoyed my visit with my friend, we had a nice glass of red wine and a meal. I had fish, chips and mushy peas, unfortunately the fish batter was very greasy and for £13.95 I thought it would have been cooked with more thought. The pub itself is located in a beautiful spot right next to the river and for a relaxing drink you cannot go far wrong. I have had other meals here and they have been at a good standard. I just wouldn't have the fish and chips again xx
