Our task was to refresh the identity of a small team of Architects who work on both residential and commercial projects. With the focus on creating a mark that could be seamlessly applied across a varied suite of materials, we developed a structured graphic solution for their identity that provided the practice with a systematic logo that could be taken apart using its components to punctuate various applications.
A combination of a simple palette of reflex blue and grey gav...e a distinctive feel to the studio’s brand. Texture also plays a key role in conveying the crafted nature of their work with materials foiled blue and document covers utilising various embossings from GF Smith’s Colorplan range providing a clear nod to the textures found on drawings and elevations.

The summer of 2016 will always go down as one of the greatest chapters of football for Wales, with the Men’s team providing some memorable moments along a journey that took them to the semi-finals of the European Championships. Our second Annual Review for the FAW focussed on the success stories over the year as well as providing a reminder of the spirit, sheer joy and the lasting impression the team made during the Euros. The review celebrates the achievements of all... members of their football family and the contribution they made both on and off the field, demonstrating that they truly were Together Stronger.

UEFA Champions League commemorative book
A historic year for the Football Association of Wales, the biggest sporting event of the 2017 calendar saw Cardiff playing host to both the men’s and women’s UEFA Champions League finals. Departures worked with the FAW to create a commemorative book that would document the Association’s Champions League journey – that not only celebrated what was an unforgettable weekend, but offered an insight into how the Football Association of Wale...s, Cardiff and Wales succeeded in hosting the footballing showpiece event. A cloth bound, copper foiled cover packaged a wealth of imagery and stories, with the book recreating the spirit of this historical event and reflected on its impact on Welsh football.

For years, the Welsh language has been promoted by multiple organisations to ensure it thrives in our communities and for future generations. Over time this has resulted in more and more brands, campaigns and messages being created causing confusion and lacking focus and direction. ‘Cymraeg’ was created with the intention of sharing one unified brand to promote Welsh language activities, events and services within our communities. Its objective was to reinforce the message th...at it is possible to use the language in every aspect of our lives, to live, learn and enjoy. Our solution for the identity is a graphic interpretation of a spoken word. It is our voice — confident, clear and spoken through the medium of Welsh. A unified voice, it encourages, promotes and celebrates the language. A kit of parts was developed for the brand including illustrations for younger age groups, a library of brand photography as well as a modified typeface ‘Cymraeg’ which was made available for partner organisations wishing to promote the language. The brand now represents a strong, united voice and provides an opportunity to ensure that audiences see continuity in the work in promoting the language.

This is Wales 2017
‘This is Wales’ is Visit Wales’ showcase tourism publication, featuring the best places to Eat, Play and Stay in Wales. As part of Visit Wales’ Year of Legends campaign, our task was to design and art direct the annual to complement the campaign and work with the Wales brand. Split into defined sections, it presents a series of themed features and provides a ‘handbook’ of twenty towns and cities across Wales. As well as creating an English version, our job ...was also to produce versions in both Welsh and German.

2017 was a historic year for the Football Association of Wales with Cardiff playing host to the biggest sporting event of the calendar as the UEFA Champions League finals came to town.
Our third End of Season review for the FAW took an illustrative approach to showcase all the year’s major highlights and community projects – from Champions League football to grassroots footie. Working closely with illustrator Lyndon Hayes enabled us to capture each story and provide a compell...ing narrative throughout the review punctuated amongst some great action photography.
