Dogged

With the very hot weather having rolled in, lunchtime and afternoon walks will be split up and exchanged for home visits in some instances. Sadly with the algae issues it's not easy to keep dogs cool and for the old, young, big and flat nosed it's particularly risky. This does mean visits will be shorter due to it taking a lot longer to do the rounds this way. Stay cool everyone 😎🌞😎

Last week Annie went fully off lead. Since she came to DOGgED at 6 months old and I only see her once or twice a week it pays to be patient, especially when they're being walked as part of an exciting group. So this week little Henry joined his brother Doug and the DOGgED crew. He is heart meltingly adorable. He's met the whole Penylan gang and they've all given him the paws up of approval. Today he had a little frolic off lead and was perfection. Penny used all her best moves to entice him into a play. George did his best "aren't I handsome?" poses to win him over. Doug mostly let him find his feet but showed his protective big brother side a couple of times. Oscar thinks he's great but he thinks everybody is great and Annie also thought he was great but had bigger things to get on with as she is newly off-lead as of this week! Well done Annie!

Had the pleasure of Wilf along for an afternoon this week. Had some off and on showers which he, Penny, George, Ronnie and Oscar didn't mind too much. Poor Doug wasn't happy with the situation, we had sun before and after his walk but it poured for the entire time he was out with us. He knows his way home no problem so had to pop him on lead to stop him abandoning us 😂! Made sure he had some extra chicken for the ordeal! Everyone had a hoot though, many frolics were had, chas...es were chased, wrestles were wrestled, squirrels were shouted at, rivers were dredged, licks were licked. First walk with George, Penny, Oscar and Doug all together and it was a real lush one. Everyone was really well behaved, this was as we were about to leave and the only reason little Oscar is back on lead is because he'd fallen in love with another pooch and thought maybe our group wasn't quite so good 😂😂 he's also allergic to most foods but he does get his own chicken back at home. Penny did her usual special of jumping in River then rolling in dirt, George expected that a...ny strokes given were to him and by everyone, he also tried to eat a large men's sock which I just managed to retrieve before it made it down his throat. Really good to remember 💚

These two 😍 Marcel the whippet and Mikey the staffie-shepherd X from the same home and both so sweet and lovable. This was on a walk which is a very rare thing as it's not something their humans need very often from me. I rarely post about any training I do as it's fairly sporadic, I find it takes a lot of emotional energy and I've got to balance those spoons to ensure I maintain the other areas of the business and life. Intermittently over the last 7 months or so I've worke...d with Mikey and his fur parents on a few things and words cannot express how amazing they all did. We worked on Mikey learning to focus and concentrate, to ignore other dogs while walking on lead, to settle, to be polite when humans answered the door and general focusing and calm energy. Mikey is a very excitable boy with lots of love to give 😊 working with this family has been such a pleasure, the humans were/are dedicated to helping him learn and Mikey has been super eager to show them what he's made of once we were able to show him what we wanted from him. These moments are too good not to share and I'm so grateful that I am able to watch them blossom. Thank you Mikey, Marcel and family 💚💜💚
