“We are still doing emergency repair work on the burst water main on the four way junction leading from Newport Road in Cardiff (CF23 9AE) to Ipswich Road. We have been working overnight again but this is an extremely difficult repair given the location of the burst and safety measures that need to be put in place. While water supplies to those handful of business customers that were affected have been restored, we still have a temporary traffic light system in place between Newport Road and Ipswich Road. This will be in place throughout the day and we will keep issuing updates to customers on our social media platforms. We are sorry about the inconvenience this is causing and working as quickly as we can to finish the emergency repair.“^AR

Essential work to lay a new pipe along the verge of Five Mile Lane (A4226), from the Hawking Centre up to Weycock roundabout in Barry started today and will take around one month to complete. We will be installing temporary two-way traffic lights on Five Mile Lane and we are working nights between 7pm and 7am to minimise disruption as much as possible for residents and road users. This work will help us to continue to provide customers in the area with a first-class wastewa...ter system for years to come. Roedd ein Prif Weithredwr Chris Jones yn nigwyddiad @livingwageUK yng Nghaerdydd heddiw i nodi Caerdydd fel dinas Cyflog Byw. Fel cyflogwr Cyflog Byw achrededig, roedd yn grêt gallu nodi’r garreg filltir yma gyda eraill sy’n talu cyflog teg am ddiwrnod teg o waith.
Our CEO Chris Jones joined @livingwageUK in Cardiff to mark becoming Living Wage City. As an accredited Living Wage employer, it was great to celebrate this milestone with others who pay a fair day’s pay for a hard day’s work.

"We are dealing with a burst water main on the four way junction leading from Newport Road in Cardiff city centre (CF23 9AE) to Ipswich Road. We are on site dealing with the burst and whilst the impact on customers is limited to a few local business units, the location of the burst is having an impact on traffic. We have installed temporary traffic light systems but this is a challenging repair and needs to be undertaken safely. This temporary traffic management system is likely to be in place throughout the day and into this evening. We wish to apologise again for this and wish to assure you that we are doing everything we can to put things right and restore drinking water supplies as quickly as possible.“^AR

Businesses, schools and buildings like community centres and chapels are particularly vulnerable to burst pipes during the winter.
Industrial estates and caravan parks are also more likely to have exposed pipes which can freeze and burst. They're often empty for days meaning a burst pipe, inside or outside the building, going unnoticed potentially causing flooding and leaking significant amounts of water.
