Fab day out. Play park and food area at the entrance. Inside the house there is a colouring room with dressing up clothes and a children's library where you can purchase donated books. Gardens are beautiful. Worth a visit, especially on a sunny day. My three young kids love it! I'm looking forward to seeing it in the summer when the flowers are in bloom.

A really nice day out for the most part. Beautiful, varied gardens. Fascinating house, with a slightly odd entrance chamber and eccentric grand staircase. I am told this is as a result of remodelling back in the day. Still renovation work to do there, but lots to see and do. To see everything you will be walking A LOT. Either split your trip over a few visits or expect to do around 5 miles if you want to see it all. The cafe is a little on the pricey side, but if you like cake and are prepared to pay, you’ll be very happy. On the day I went, there was a rather rude, unwelcoming woman working in the shop, who seemed to be constantly shelf stacking right behind me. Because I had stubble that day, perhaps she thought me a shoplifter. Oh well, her attitude cost them over £50 in sales (and a single star in this review). EVERYBODY else working there was kind, helpful, incredibly enthusiastic and welcoming and I will certainly go there again.

Amazing place, family friendly with a kid's park at the entrance. Plenty to see, inside the house and outside, picnic tables available and very safe place for the kids to run around. Will definitely go back soon.

Now taken over by the National Trust much work has been done to improve the garden and house. There is a new visitor's center, new restaurant, new greenhouse and better signage. There are play areas for kids at the entrance and in the wild areas. The whole feeling is that much more time and money is being put into it and this is reflected in a much better visitor experience than previously.

An excellent National Trust House and Gardens, good parking close to entrance with buggy service for the elderly or those with difficulty walking. excellent tearoom restaurant over looking kids play park. A short stroll to the house that has ground floor restoration competed. Lots of interesting and well though out features inside. The gardens are large and beautiful with well kept enthusiastic staff maintaining them. There is work underway to built a large kids play area (check progress) We have visited lots of National Trust sites and this one is up there with the best.

Joyous garden rooms and herbaceous border par excellence that make National Trust membership worth it even if it were the only property it managed.

The National Trust a weaving thier magic and bringing this place back from the dead. I particularly like the kitchen garden and hot house. Good restaurant too.

The most beautiful place. It is my favourite :-). The staff are lovely and the coffee is fantastic. I visit often and every time there is something new to see. The handkerchief tree is a spectacular sight. The gardens are colourful and very aesthetically pleasing. You can walk or relax and enjoy the view.

Lovely little spot that has something for everyone. The actual gardens are very varied, with paths shooting off in every direction, great for exploring! Very grand views and the botanical aspects were beautiful. They even have a large cacti/succulent greenhouse. There's a fair amount of social history spots too, which is the part I really enjoy. Lots to learn about the occupants of the manor over the years. I did find the admission price steep compared to other similar locations. The manor is very much in a state of repair and a tad bare, though there's plenty of information advising the previous and current restoration taking place, which I hope explains the dear entry fee (in which case, excusable) Will try and come back in the height of Summer, as I imagine the landscape would've changed considerably during the season :)
