Deio Williams - 9.64lb Tom presented Andy and Ed with vouchers, and Dudley also recieved a voucher as he was the only angler to fish, and weigh in, on every leg, an admirable achievement in winter. Picture shows Tom presenting Andy with the League shield, with Ed on the right and Dudley at the back. Thanks again to everyone who helped make this league a success, see you all next year.

Today saw the last leg of the Pleasure Lake Winter League. The forecast kept a few away but it wasn't too bad except for brave Ed on peg 12, who had the wind in his face all day. We decided to make it a rover, to give people the chance to get out of the wind, we all did apart from Ed!! Winner was Andy Thompson, on peg 24, with 23.90lbs. This was made up of 6lb+ of silvers (which won the silvers pool) and three proper carp and four brown goldfish. Second was Ed Fitzjohn, peg 1...2, with 17lb of carp and 4lb of silvers for 21.42lb. Third was Jacek Raczka, peg 30, with 8.86lb. Full result: 1st. Andy Thompson - 23.90lb 2nd. Ed Fitzjohn - 21.42lb 3rd. Jacek Raczka - 8.86lb 4th. Dudlery Saward - 8.64lb 5th. Vic Clarke - 4.96lb Many thanks to all that fished this year to make the league a success.

Today’s final of the winter league took place today on the fly lake With a strong wind and very cold it was going to be hard. But the top rod today was Harley with 5fish so well done Harley. Final results ... 1st place Carl 2nd Barry 3rd Geraint The youth results 1st Sion 22 points 2nd Berwyn and Morgan 21 points 3rd Harley 20 points So again well done boys

There is one leg of the Pleasure Lake Winter League left and the placings are very tight at the top. Long term leader Brian Fitzjohn has been passed by Andy Thompson, but Ed Fitzjohn is not far behind them and Jacek Razcka is not out of the running. So all to fish for on the last match. Full league table: 1st. Andy Thompson - 135.24lb... 2nd. Brian Fitzjohn - 127.06lb 3rd. Edward Fitzjohn - 117.76lb 4th. Jacek Raczka - 104.68lb 5th. Vic Clarke - 74.80lb 6th. Phil Boardman - 70.16lb 7th. Mike North - 51.84lb 8th. Dudley Saward - 48.28lb 9th. Chris Jewkes - 38.06lb 10th. Steve Washbrook - 25.10lb 11th. Deio Williams - 9.64lb. Last leg is on Sunday 10th March, draw 9.00, fishing 10.00 - 16.00(?) and the cafe will be open from 8.00.

Sunday 24th February saw the penultimate leg (7th) of the Pleasure Lake Winter League. The day was glorious, and saw a few pleasure anglers out (good to see) but it did make the pegging a bit awkward. However the fish didn't respond to the good weather and the expected good weights didn't materialise - well it is still February and the water is still cold. Winner was Andy Thompson, who wasn't unhappy when peg 25 was left in the bag for him. Andy fished long pole to the pads (...again) for a very mixed bag of carp, fantails, a goldfish, some good skimmers (over a pound), roach and a couple of gudgeon for a total of 30.88lbs. Second, on peg 10, was Ed Fitzjohn. doing what he does best - catching silvers - and a solitary fantail, for a total of 17.54lbs. Ed also won the silvers with a bag of skimmers and roach weighing 16.62lbs. Jacek Raczka was third, peg 4, with 16.50 of carp with a few silvers, his best fish was a common of about 8lb, all caught on the feeder. Full result: 1st. Andy Thompson - 30.88lb 2nd. Edward Fitzjohn - 17.53lb 3rd. Jacek Raczka - 16.50lb 4th. Vic Clarke - 12.93lb 5th. Brian Fitzjohn - 11.14lb 6th. Dudley saward - 10.86lb 7th. Phil Boardman - 6.40lb. Next, and final, match is on Sunday 10th March, draw at 9.00 and fishing 10.00 - 16.00(?). The cafe will be open from 8.00 for breakfast.

Seventh (and penultimate) leg of the Pleasure Lake Winter League tomorrow. Can the league leader, Brian Fitzjohn, hold on to his lead or can the chasing pack catch him? Forecast is good, so should be a good days fishing. Draw at 9.00 prompt, fishing 10.00 till 4.00(?), cafe open from 8.00 for breakfasts and lunch orders/deliveries.

User

We had a fantastic afternoon on the family lake today. Cafe and toilets immaculate too. The most reasonably priced activity we've done during our week in Wales. As total beginners we can't praise any more the man from the tackle shop. Nothing too much trouble.

User

Spent a a really nice sunny day here. As always a nice welcome, good food and me and the kids enjoyed fishing the family pool. Will come back as soon as I can. Worth the hour and a half drive for us to get there.

My first visit was last Tuesday where I fished the fly only lake. What a day on C&R, landing 8 beautiful trout averaging 3Ib and my PB brown guessing 3 - 3 1/2Ib. That was it, I was addicted to this place! I took the wife and children who had never fished for trout. They had a great day on the lake up by the cafe catching lots of small rainbows. My daughter was casting the fly herself and safely landing the fish. Girls are the best when it comes to fishing, so much patience compared to us boys.

Then another visit from me yesterday 5 August and landing another 4 rainbows of very decent size.

The welcome and hospitality from the elderly gentleman and the ladies at the cafe was beyond expectations. Beautiful people to say the least. A credit to you all. Hope to see you again for the next bank holiday.

User
