Bangor English Drama Society presents Suddenly Last Summer by Tennessee Williams 13th - 14th November in Pontio's Bryn Terfel Theatre
Students from the School of Languages, Literatures and Linguistics are involved in this production of Tennessee Williams' famous one-act tragedy from 1958. The cast includes Mike Burrows, Jess Simms, Jack Robinson, Jamie King, and has been directed by Alma Nordstrand and Peter Jones, with lights and sound by Emily Jarvis.
... Suddenly Last Summer tells the story of Catherine Holly (Hannah Grimston) a glamorous 1950s socialite who has been left mentally disturbed after a high-class summer holiday turned violent. She is now in a New Orleans psychiatric facility and under the care of the enigmatic Doctor Sugar (Mike Burrows). But it is Catherine's rich and powerful Aunt Violet (Danielle Katz) who is manipulating Catherine's treatment to protect the family's reputation at any cost. Even if it means forcing Catherine into brain surgery, to stop her telling the story of what really happened on the beaches of France, suddenly last summer...
This student show promises to be a sinister, shocking and hugely entertaining night of theatre, right in the centre of Bangor. Tickets are available from the Pontio Box Office and official website at https://pontio.co.uk/Online/default.asp†¦

We had a wonderful evening yesterday at the shared reading by Professor Carol Rumens and Dr Lisa Blower, who both teach Creative Writing in the School.
Carol shared some poignant and powerful work from her new pamphlet Bezdelki (out with Emma Press) and Lisa Blower read from her wonderful story 'Abdul'. Lisa has recently been shortlisted for the Sunday Times EFG Short Story Award. It's pretty obvious why.
The next public reading in the Y Llechan Visiting Writer Series will ta...ke place on Monday, 19 February, and we are excited to welcome Kit de Waal!
