In this class we will explore how the process of engaging our awareness in subtle movements leads to a greater possibility of inner stillness.
... When thoughts slow down and our internal chatter quietens, a more spacious state can arise, along with the relaxation of habitual tensions. The ability to cultivate and connect with this inner stillness and silence is essential for our wellbeing, bringing healing, rest, renewal, and increased vitality.
This intriguing Feldenkrais lesson will help you learn more about the connection of your hands to your torso and to your whole self. You will learn a simple process which you can use anytime to improve how you move, deeepen awareness of your breath, quieten your mind and ease anxiety.

I'm changing the timing of my Tuesday Feldenkrais class at The Swansea Wellbeing Centre so it will be more accessible to those doing a school run. I've also changed the title; however you don't have to be in pain to come to the classes! Please share this with anyone you think could find it helpful.

Rewire your brain to move without pain!
This class is designed for those with recurrent aches and pains, as well as anyone else who is looking for slow-paced, gentle, easy movement lessons.
The Feldenkrais Method offers a safe, comfortable way to learn how to shift your pain by exploring your movement patterns.
... The natural and instinctive response to pain is to become increasingly tense, and to get stuck in limited movement patterns to attempt to protect the painful area. Over time this response leads to a loss of mobility, and a vicious cycle in which pain alters and restricts posture and movement, while these inefficient postural and movement patterns themselves create further pain and damage.
In addition chronic pain blocks our ability to sense ourselves accurately, and to find healthier movement patterns which could bring more ease. The focus of our attention becomes reduced, creating inaccurate sensorimotor perceptions about our posture and movement.
Many people with chronic pain find that doing strengthening or stretching exercises while still stuck in these habits of excess tension and inefficient posture simply doesn't help, and can easily lead to injuries.
The Feldenkrais approach is a way of breaking this vicious cycle, by teaching you how to begin to widen your focus of attention, to more accurately sense yourself, and to bring calm to your nervous system. You will find out how to let go on unneccessary tension, to let pain dissolve, and to gradually discover more comfortable natural easy ways to move.
You'll need to be able to comfortably lie on the floor to do these lessons. Each person stays within their own limits, and the small class size means you will have individual attention when needed.
