What a lovely place! Myself, my daughter and 2 very muddy dogs went today. From the basket of towels at the door to the fab tea and cakes in the cafe, it was all so nice. We had a warm welcome from both the lady in the cafe and the one in the centre.

We shall be back!

User

What a lovely cafe. I had homemade soup and a roll and it was lovely. The price was fantastic too £3.25 I usually pay £4.95 in other places.

Will be back and highly recommend

User

Visited the cafe for the first time. Wonderful food and service and at a busy period too. I asked for my daughter's Welsh cake as I thought the staff had forgotten however they said they don't serve it at the same time so the children eat their food first. Very thoughtful:)

User

Took the children today to see Santa at a small cost of £6. We couldn’t be happier great value for money no rush to get your children in and out Santa took his time and asked questions. Was a lovely experience all in all. Plus for you money you get a gift bag and photos taken by and sent from a professional photographer. Would highly recommend the 14 locks canal centre to any one with children wanting the see Santa. Thank you very much to all the staff we will be back next year for sure.

User

This is an amazing place run by lovely, dedicated people. It's beautiful and peaceful and I'm so proud that my hand-crafted items are being sold in the excellent shop. Kate, the manager and the staff are a super bunch of people and always make everyone so welcome. It's a great place to spend some time walking and enjoying the ambience. Do visit. You won't be disappointed,

User

Think we only left 30mins ago but still so happy! Best Santa we've ever been to. Not rushed, natural, friendly and saying things about last year to keep the magic alive My 2yr old was extremely shy but afterwards said how much he loved it Brilliant gift too! All the staff were warm and bubbly. Cant fault it! Love this place! Thank you!

User

Thank you for accommodating a group of us today! You didn't mind us mummies and children taking over and you were all so friendly and accommodating. We will definitely be back to visit again, and hopefully this time less rain so we can make use of the lovely walks around!

User

Popped in with family yesterday after a walk from Risca, all 3 of us had the best bacon rolls ever. 3 thick rashers of bacon in each roll, loads of butter and the rolls were Portuguese, unusual and tasty. Nice helpful staff too. Fantastic they were

User

Had lunch in there today with my mum. Lovely red pepper and feta quiche with salad and a jacket potato with tuna mayo. Really nice coffee. Had to try the ice cream it's delicious... Baileys and salted caramel with a flake (be rude not too) !!! The staff are really friendly and helpful. Nice to see home made and local products on sale. Popped into the shop and bought a few really nice things too the hand painted garden pots are great and the pebbles. Will definitely be back.

User

A new found gem in the heart of Newport!

A friend and I were surprised and very impressed by the canal centre and the walk we did. We both have been working in and around Newport within the community for 2 years and although I'd seen some nice bits I'd no idea how lovely and scenic Newport actual was! Nobody told us it was there or how beautiful it was and we just stumbled across it while searching for somewhere to meet for a coffee and a walk that was mid way between where we both live.

User

A beautiful day today and so lucky to enjoy the views in this area. No matter what the weather, the scenery is fantastic :)

User

good team who work here , helped me with instructions for the circular walk , really interested and wanted feedback when I got back . Didnt use the Cafe but will next time

User

Just back from our first visit and safe to say we'll be coming back. Lovely friendly welcome from centre and cafe staff. Enjoyed lunch and thank you for the bowl of water and biscuits for Minnie - much appreciated! And for sitting with her whilst I hopped into the shop (she was tired and refused to leave the reception desk...). Looking forward to exploring the area and trying the breakfast at some point soon.

User

I took my Granddaughter for a short visit as I was taking her home and thought a little taster for her would be good. We saw a Buzzard flying over the field (as you look towards the motorway) and a mouse in the bushes. We had a short walk down along the canal path and had a good look around a few locks. We both enjoyed it and as she's becoming more interested in nature (she can spot and name quite a few trees & she's only 5 lol), it was a good experience.

A visit to the shop was a must, which wasn't a disappointment. Lots of cakes and things but it was bound to end in an ice cream. There are around 5/6 flavours and at £1.50 for a (generous) scoop in a cone, it's good value (1.80 in Bath for a plain one, 2.20 for a single 99).

I was able to use my credit card too (minimum £1.00 spend), which was a bonus.

It's a busy little place and we saw lots of people walking, even a horse rider.

I noticed they're doing things during the summer for children, so if a chance arises, give it a go

User

Second time I’ve tried the cafe here and second time I’ve been disappointed. The customer service is appalling. Was made to feel incredibly uncomfortable today even though it was the cashier who made a mistake. Won’t be visiting again.

User

My daughter loves feeding the ducks and today we decided as she had a late Nap I would get her some lunch in the tea rooms, I placed my order and took a seat, many people came after me placed orders and had their food/drinks, after about a 30min wait and a very grumpy two year old I made my way to the counter to find out how long her food would be, the lady said sorry we have no order and pointed to her order board which meant nothing to me! I said I paid by card can I just get a refund then as my daughter is too grumpy to wait any longer, the lady asked who served me and I pointed to the other lady serving, an apology and refund was given and my daughter was given crisps and drink as a good will gesture but down to today’s experience I will not be returning to the tea rooms!
