About Fox House

Welcome to Fox House, a beautiful country pub and restaurant in Longshaw, Sheffield. We’re the perfect spot for any occasion or escape.

Fox House Description

Whether you’re looking for a long, lazy lunch with family, or a spontaneous mid-week treat with friends, we’ve got you covered. Our beautiful pub and restaurant combines the cosy, rustic features of the countryside with delicious, contemporary food and drink.

Our menus change seasonally to offer you the very best, fresh ingredients. And when it comes to refreshment, our fridges are fully stocked with plenty to choose from, including countryside ciders, cask ales, prosecco and carefully selected wines.

Dating back to 1773, Fox House was named after Mr Fox of Callow Farm and proved a popular spot for livestock drivers and stagecoach passengers. The large dining area was originally known as The Duke’s Room as the Duke of Rutland often frequented the pub.

After a bite to eat with us, why not make a day of it and discover the rambler’s paradise beyond our walls around Longshaw Estate. Or, you could extend your visit even longer with a night in the Fox House Innkeepers Lodge, a charming B& B located opposite the pub.

As part of the Vintage Inns family, we’re proud of our heritage and welcoming service which ensures you’ll always receive the full Vintage treatment. So, sit back and relax while we take care of the rest. The countryside is calling.

Went up there yesterday for a run and this little pub is amazing stayed for food and a little drink. With the runner's would tell anyone and every one go there but book 1st and stay the night so you can have a good drink. And the walk around the peaks too. Top place

User

Well worth the visit. My wife and I enjoyed a lovely meal there this evening. Friendly and helpful service. A lovely location too.

User

We organised to stay here for the night after a day walking Kinder Scout. The location is perfect for any planned walks around the high peak with stunning views. On arrival, the service for check in, was efficient and the room was lovely and clean and very modern. The pub itself is a fabulous, quaint country pub serving a vast collection of beers and wines. The open fire made the atmosphere homely and cosy. The food and service was faultless and we will definitely be returning in future. Highly recommend a visit!!!!!!

User

We had a very short notice booking and were made to feel very welcome! The staff were amazing as was the food! Thank you for making our evening special

User

We had a lovely impromptu lunch here for my Mum's 81st Birthday today - they found a table for 7 of us despite being very busy. Food was delicious and plentiful; a big thank you to our lovely server Lydia, who went out of her way to make sure we were looked after in every possible way :)

User

We came for Christmas dinner yesterday and we couldn't have asked for anything more. My brother and his girlfriend are away in Australia so we wanted to make it different and special without them being here this year. The food was amazing, the service was amazing and it was overall a lovely atmosphere and we will certainly be back. It just leaves us to say thank you!!!

User

This is such a rustic beautiful place to visit,,the staff are so attentive and welcoming and it's stunning as I found in these autumn months with the big open fires,,,"it's a must to visit".

Food is lovely and if your a fan of "olives" try theirs from behind the bar,,,they are exquisite.

Good food, beer and an amazing view

User

Fox house I've been driving past this place for years and never stopped. So I bit the bullet and called in, I've been in plenty of pubs in Derbyshire and I can say it's really nice one of my favourites now.

User

Excellent accommodation and the food was brill. What a perfect spot to watch the sunset! We will definitely be back!

User

Called in ad hoc on a Saturday night. The place is very well presented and we were impressed with its cleanliness. No waiting, greeted well, looked after properly throughout our stay. The staff were courteous, polite and friendly. Food was lovely, we had no complaints and we had a very nice evening. We will be back.

User

1st time we have been gone passed this pub so many times when taking dog for a walk in Peak District went for a family meal for my dad's birthday food was fabulous service for great wasn't rushed lovely pub

User

We both chose lighter meals and were very happy with the food. The salmon and spring onion fishcake was delicious and was served on a generous bed of salad and new potatoes. I would have preferred half the amount of potatoes for a lite bite.

You only lost a star because of the long wait for food. We shall try a weekday next time.

User

Booked to stay for my husbands special birthday with our family, what a lovely place stunning location, very comfortable cosy accommodation and good food. The staff are very friendly and looked after us so well, always with a smile. Thank you for making it a memorable weekend we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and hope to come back again.

User

waited for 3/4 of a hour for our table to be cleaned waited a hour for food it was ok that the sun was out which numbed the wait but the food was great

User

Food ok but we all thought it would be better. The burger portion was too small, came with only 7-8 chips on the side. The chicken puff pasty pie was lacking in filling. Never the less, the food was tasty but could have been better.

User

Chicken and Mushroom pie was mainly air and pastry. Bits of chicken were just that - bits and pieces, skin and gristle. Perhaps chef was just having an off day. 5 star rating though from a lot of other diners so would be happy to try it again in case it was simply a case of 'rushed of his feet' chef.

User

We ordered 2 pork loin roasts here today and a child’s turkey and sausage Sunday dinner. Ours was literally pieces of bacon, some green stuff, 2 roast potatoes and the smallest Yorkshire pudding I’ve ever seen. There were no carrots, no parsnips and no stuffing. It definitely wasn’t worth £11.25. My daughters childs portions was the same size of ours (on a different plate) and half the price. Not worth the money and will not be returning !
