Yet another great weekend. Even with weather having taken a turn for the worst. Annina was a brilliant guide. Chill time and Chester was a perfect match for me. So loving and forward going. Ate all my apples looking forward to the next one.

User

Would absolutely recommend FreeRein! The ride was so well organized, the horses were awesome, and the scenery was gorgeous. It was so fun having the horses to enjoy during the day and meeting other riders at the B&Bs at night. We're horse owners and sticklers on horse care, and the horses were well cared for, sure footed, forward but sensible -- really seemed to enjoy their jobs. We'll be back, for sure!

User

What an amazing place. Excellent healthy looking horses. Fantastically well schooled horses, so responsive and brilliant breaks. Beautiful accommodation organised and the most breath taking terrain ever ridden over. Can't wait to go again.

User

Went on my own on 3 day guided horse trail over August Bank holiday.

All the previous reviews are so true.

Can only add that every horsey person should come and try it out. Was last person to book this ride and Free rein arranged everything perfectly. Had no worries.

My horse was perfect and gentle.

Tack stirrups and saddle were in excellent condition.

Countryside was stunning.

Weather sunny

B&Bs were hospitable and comfortable

Food was delicious (fresh home grown fruit and vegatables)

MARC was Best Guide Ever. So patient. Nothing was a problem. He was just amazing.

All of us in our little group had so much fun and lots of laughter by the end of weekend.

Left free rein on bank holiday Monday as Happy, chilled out, more confident rider and Loving life again.

Thanks again to Beth, Matt and Marc.

Hope to be back next year.

User

Well freerein did not disappoint. My sister and i had Chester and toffee who were fantastic. We did a self guided 2 day trail, freerein was so organised it was very reassuring and the routes were amazing with views for miles. The b and b that was selected was perfect. Lets just say the 2 days went like a dream and enabled me and my sister to re live the good old days when we were younger. All in all excellent couple of days thanks freerein and the very trusting ponies.

User

This holiday is one of the best things I've ever done! Just a great escape from life with amazing horses and stunning countryside! Kaz, our guide was great - helpful, knowledgeable and really friendly. The whole Freerein set up is very professional and the horses are fantastic and make you feel totally safe. Our accommodation was also great and the food was amazing! If you're feeling nervous about going on your own, as I was, dont be! I met a great group of girls who had mostly gone there alone...one had even travelled from Japan, and a couple of us (who had never met each other before) are already planning booking again soon for a bespoke ride.

User

There is no better way to see the stunning scenery that Mid Wales has to offer than through the ears of a Freerein horse.

I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Myself and a friend have just returned from our first three day guided trail, it was everything I hoped it would be and so much more.

The staff are welcoming and well organised upon your arrival right through until the end of your holiday.

It is clear that Freerein care about their horses a lot and their welfare is top priority. All of the horses on our trail were extremely well mannered and Whiskey in particular was a joy to ride!

Thank you to our excellent guide Annina who led our trail and the team at HQ. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Freerein and I can’t wait to come back!

User

So organised, so professional. Good horses, excellent guides, thoroughly recommend

User

Simon and I came on a 3 day trail ride to kick off our honeymoon! With sunshine and lovely Alex as our guide, riding the most wonderful horses - Archie (perfect gentleman for beginner Simon) and I rode JB (who I fell in love with, and can't wait to ride again!). The whole set up at Freerein is wonderful and unique, friendly and huge amounts of fun. I would recommend it to any one of any ability, whether it is your first time riding (as it was Simon's), or with lots of experience. The whole team (Matt and Beth organise everything brilliantly) are lovely, and friendly, laid back with great out-going horses that take care of their riders. We will be returning to ride the beautiful Welsh hills with Freerein as soon as we can! Thank you!

User

Really impressed with our first FreeRein holiday. Just back from the 2day explorer weekend. Happy, fit horses, friendly fun guide (Katie), stunning countryside and a big thumbs up to The Roast Ox inn... Amazing food and service, cosy and clean accommodation. I'll be back!! Plainly a very well organised company, keep up the excellent work freerein!!

User

Me and my husband were on the 2 day trail ride with Marc last weekend 19th/20th May. We had an amazing time, our guides Marc and Grace were fantastic . The horses were forward going but had gentle temperaments and really looked after us.

The Roast Ox Inn was so friendly and the food was great. We absolutely loved every moment of our experience with free rein and would highly recommend it.

Thank you all so much.

We cannot wait for our next ride with you.

User

Just returned from our fourth Freerein holiday, this time it was the Teme Valley Trail, which we clocked at 83 miles over for days (so long days). The horses were great, Rudi for my son and Trevor for me. They were both forward going and fun to ride, but were also good with traffic and surprises. We'd happily ride them again any time.

We were out up in two lovely B&B, Bracken Ridge in Old Radnor and Belmont Cottage in Knucklas, and a friendly hotel in Penybont. All the looked after is very well.

Highlights were the Racetrack on top of Hergest Ridge, and the canters on the Begwns.

User

Just returned from a fantastic 3 days riding through brilliant scenery (despite a soggy start to day 2) Brilliant organisation, super and sure footed horses, great group of people. Was a bit nervous about coming by myself but a shouldn't have worried. The people I met were great company and I would love to meet up with them all again for another trip. Marc, the guide, was super. Thank you Freerein (and Lulu my sure footed horsey companion)

User

Just got back from a fantastic 'learn to ride' holiday, and what a cracking time we had! The whole package is extremely well thought through and organised; the horses are clearly well cared for and seemed to enjoy it as much as we did. It was so nice to get out and meet new people; we bonded quickly as a group and enjoyed the company of each other as well as our horses. Marc was a fantastic guide; encouraging, gentle and patient and I think we all love him just a little bit. He summed the experience up for us after a couple of canters by saying "you're all still on, and you're all still smiling". I can't think of a better way to learn to ride than to get out in the fresh air and beautiful scenery in this area. Thank you all!

User

If you can’t be bothered reading the rest of this: Freerein is a fantastically run outfit with friendly staff, really good service throughout, great horses and a great riding experience.

For those of you that have stuck around, a brief background. My wife has been riding for years. Last year I bet my 10-year-old son that he couldn’t learn to ride, if I lost I would learn too. You can see where this is heading.

After a couple of lessons going round in circles and being shouted at for not having a straight back, not holding the reigns correctly, not pointing my heels down etc etc, I decided horse riding wasn’t for me. Then I saw a learn to ride with freerein advert and told my wife to get it booked as a last-ditch attempt to see if I enjoyed it so I could ride with my family.

After 3 days in great company with my fellow riders, Marc guiding us up hill and down dale and building a great relationship with my horse Archie, I now rank this as one of my top weekends ever!

The learning style is relaxed, with little tips here and there to improve you as you go. If the group is ready you go up a gear you get a few more tips and something a bit more technical to try. We were lucky enough to have a group that got up to cantering (what an experience!) and doing longer periods of trotting but its very much at the pace of the group as a whole.

You really get time to bond with your horse and feed, groom and tack them every day, one of the great joys was dropping them into a field in the evening and watching them roll around and scratch their backs!

The focus with Freerein is on enjoying the ride. The views are stunning, even after 3 days I never tired of them. Equally, the B&B we stayed in was comfortable with fabulous food and a friendly welcome.

You spend a lot of time in the saddle, with the odd walk to give the legs a break. I recommend taking good clothing, I bought some reasonable priced Jods and I already had long boots. We were lucky and had good weather for the 3 days with a burst of rain just as we trotted back into base, take a good waterproof though!

If you have a bit of experience or like me, very little but want to see whether horse riding is for you I cannot recommend this highly enough! A huge thanks to Marc and the team :D

User

I went on an amazing 4 day trek with Freerein. The organisation was fantastic, as were the group leaders and the horses. I had a fabulous experience from arriving to leaving and really didn't want to go home. The ponies are safe, responsive and forward going, and seem very happy. The views are incredible. Feel very relaxed following the excellent trip!

User

Had the most amazing time, met some really fabulous people. Alix our guide was super funny witty and really looked after us. This was my fourth Freerein adventure and it was the best yet 👍🏻🐎🤠

User

Amazing, absolutely amazing. Every time I think of our time at Free Rein I start to smile. I honestly can't stop thinking about the fun we had. We picked up Toffee and Conner at 10 am Saturday morning and we got back about 5pm Sunday night. We were cantering up over the moors in glorious sun having the best time ever. We stayed in the Roast Ox Inn for the stop over which I really recommend. The food, drink and staff were fantastic. I can't wait to come back.

User

All my horse riding friends should do this - my only regret is I didn't know about it sooner! A fantastic weekend riding The "Drover's Trail". The best riding country you could wish for - felt like you were on top of the world. Lovely horses, great professional staff. Can't wait to come back. Archie was fab.
