Friends Of All Saints Church

So sad to see that the old Church Windows have been replaced with tacky white PVC...such a shame to see another Reminder that our Church is no longer our Sanctuary. I hope the new owners love it as much as we did x

The Church is looking sadder than ever...does anyone know what the new people are intending to do with it?

Are there any other people on this site who's family have donated items to all saints church . I was informed by someone from another closed church that there is a way to apply for your memorial items back even if they have been donated to another church . So please write to CIW and find out about your belongings .

Well I am absolutely disgusted that the church in Wales have given away all the things from All Saints without informing the families who donated them where they have gone. Absolutely no respect has been given to the memorial items within the church. Disgraceful

The church was emptied today ...they removed the seats the screen and the font .....so sad . I hope whoever has bought it at least keeps the building standing .

I bet it was cold and silent on Christmas Eve... not to having Midnight Mass...so sad :(

So sad ....brought a tear to my eye this morning.

There seems to be a lift in people wanting support he church now so if you would like to be involved with trying to save the building even if Barry Morgan will never allow worship there again pease post on here and we will try and fight to keep maerdy church.

The fight to save all saints church is over. It has been decided not to take over the lease that was offered. It seems that the terms of the lease were that no worship was to take place in the church !( what else is a church for?) and no fund raising was to be held there either! ( where else would be better to make money to support the building?) After the statement that the church in Wales plan to close down more of its churches it seems pointless to fund raise for a church ...that inevitably will be closed down in the next few years. It seems that Barry Morgan has won in his great plan to close down the church in our village. Shame on him.
The money already raised will be put to good use in community projects in Maerdy, and the charity shop will stay open to continue raising funds for Maerdy.

Hello supporters of all saints church. Just a quick reminder to let you know the charity shop in Maerdy is open Monday to Saturday mornings 9.30 till 1. Hope you will all make the effort to visit the shop to either make some purchases or drop off some donations. We can collect items if anyone has no transport. Hope to see you there. THANKS.

Just keeping you all informed. A meeting was held regarding the future of All Saints Church this evening. The outcome after much discussion was to lease the church for a year, giving us the time to form a plan for the future. We have to pay£4000 to Llandaff for back payment of quota( fees for the clergy etc). So fundraising now really needs to start in ernest

I would just like to remind everybody that the fight to save all saints church is still going on. If anyone has any fund raising ideas or plans for the next few months please let everyone know on here. Also don't forget the charity shop always needs donations of good quality clothing,handbags,household goods etc so get rummaging folks.
