At Nexus last night we looked at Jesus’ encounter with Pilate, the people pleaser.
Here we saw that Pilate and Jesus both have very different understandings of what it means to be king. Pilate’s idea of a king is a powerful ruler or an army leader. Jesus explains his idea of his kingship is different: his kingdom is unlike any worldly kingdom but is eternal.
We know that every earthly ruler and authority is imperfect and often use their power for their own gain. But in this p...assage we learn that Jesus’ reign is different. Jesus promises to reign in perfect truth and justice and uses his power as a king to save his people through dying on the cross.
Do we ever reject Jesus’ claim to be king of our lives? How does this passage encourage us that it’s good to live under God’s reign?

Hi Guys,
The Saturday after STORY Cardiff is the Cardiff Men's convention (18th November) that is taking place at Highfields church at a cost of just £5 for a student ticket (Refreshments will be provided but not lunch).
The Aim is simply to encourage and equip every man who attends with the transformative news of the Gospel. The theme of the conference will be ‘Sons not Slaves’ as we remember a fresh the unique privilege that we have received from God that we don’t deserve t...hrough Jesus Christ.
We are delighted to welcome Paul Mallard and Steve Robinson as our main speakers. The day will also include a selection of seminars, a wide range of resources, and we’ll re-energised by the praises of hundreds of men, who we trust will be determined to answer His call in the work place, in the home, in the gym and in our churches.
Further details can be found at our website where you will also be able to book tickets online.

If you have any questions about the conference or want further publicity materials then please contact me.
Thanks

At Nexus this week we looked at Jesus’ encounter with the grieving Mary and Martha and the miraculous resurrection of Lazarus from the dead in John 11.
Similar to Jesus healing the man born blind in chapter 9, Jesus uses this miraculous act as a sign to reveal his glory. Jesus hears about Lazarus’ suffering and death and after 2 days goes to comfort Mary and Martha. Through these passages we see that Jesus offers comfort in the face of suffering, but even more importantly, He... offers a genuine hope because He has power over life and death. This is proven by raising Lazarus from the dead.
This amazing miracle reveals God’s glory and is a sign which points us towards Jesus’ own death and resurrection. It’s because of this, that we can know that we will one day be raised with Jesus! What does this mean for us? It means that as Christians we don’t need to fear physical death as he will raise us up to life after death, but also that he gives us spiritual life now. This sign is also a promise to us that he will raise up his people on the last day, meaning that we can have confidence in the hope that the gospel brings, and trust Jesus with our lives and salvation.
How do Jesus’ conversations with Mary and Martha comfort us when we are going through suffering?

‪Anyone ever said to you, ‘You can’t believe the Bible because...’? ‬
‪If the ‘because’ was about difficult topics in the OT—things it seems to support like genocide, slavery, sexism or homophobia—then join us Saturday night, as we address these moral objections head on.
Our speaker, Dr Peter Williams, is the main headline speaker at the European Leadership Forum and is perhaps the leading evangelical scholar on the topic globally right now. And a phenomenal communicator to b...oot.
Clear the diary, watch Strictly on iPlayer, bring some friends, and get yourself down to Highfields Church this Saturday night (14th October), 7.30-9.30pm. Free of charge.
