One of our #selfbuild houses ready and complete. You don’t realise how many people were involved in creating this home from lines to real life until you stop and look back. From surveyors, engineers, planners, building control, ground workers, block workers, carpenters, steel workers, glazers, painters, electricians, plumbers, tilers, and many more and of course most importantly, the client. #architecture looking forward to the final photos.

A new dwelling, replacing a simple pennant stone gabled cottage. The front elevation reuses the Pennant stone, retaining the memory of the existing gabled. While the painted timber boards talk of material of its place. Large glazed openings to the south east bring morning light deep into the plan, while borrowing the landscape and allowing the dappled light in from the trees. The materials are pinned by a concrete chimney and hearth in the centre of the living room. The concrete has timber boarding as it’s form work, leaving the grain as an imprint. #architecture #selfbuild #merthyrtydfil #timber @ Merthyr Tydfil

Relieved to have gained planning permission on this raised deck. We were brought in after it was built to provide a retrospective planning application.
It’s been a stressful couple of months for the client, with many discussions with the case officer.
