Well....This is a new way introducing Chinese cultures.....Which I learnt from today....üòéüòä

Restaurant Awards 2018 - Welsh Edition @ Exchange Hotel, Cardiff...Monday 26th November 2018.

And whilst we are on the subject of culinary awards, we will be attending The 2018 Restaurant Awards (Welsh edition) in Cardiff on Monday evening, 26th Nov. We really don't know too much about this award ceremony nor categories etc but it will be good to see many Swansea based restaurant owners, whom we know have also been invited..

For a variety of reasons we didn't get to Grosvenor House Hotel in London to attend the Asian Curry Awards/Asian Restaurant Awards on Sunday last, and it has a taken a while for the details to filter through to us. Whilst we didn't win the Best Asian Restaurant 2018 - Chinese (UK) we did achieve joint runner's up along side Canton Restaurant in London. The award went to Jin Li Chinese also from London.
That said we have since discovered that we did indeed win a Regional categ...ory of Best Asian Restaurant 2018 - Chinese (Wales).
As for the British Chinese Food Awards in London on the same evening, it appears to have been cancelled.
Well done team! You did us proud again! :)

Another family from Cardiff has just left. Feedback: really enjoyable but shame you are in Swansea but not in Cardiff...
The family said that they are coming back in December for one of the boy's birthday. So I checked out that the good boy's sign is Pig which also is my sign....
2019 will be the year of Pig, I will still do something special for the pig year.
... Anyway, the boy will get his special memorable celebration and gift.
For the special gift again....Ox run out, dragon run out, rooster one left, monkey left, the dog one left....Gosh....They goes sooo quickly as I just imported lots not long time ago....Need some more urgently....🤓
Sincerely grateful to our customers who drive one hour, two hours, even longer way to us for special occasions or only trying us out. Though the feedbacks we have had are positive I.e. worth long traveling etc, however we still need improvements to payback the love from our great customers üòäüòäüòä

What a storm day.... Terrified.... My beautiful flowers were blow out from pots to floor....The doors hardly closed properly but kept blowing by wind....Wet and cold....üò•üòìüò¢
However, we still served 4 birthday parties in the warm inside....Mr Colin is 81 years old today, year of Ox.....And our little Mr Ben is 15, the year of the goat....
... Every time the happy birthday song playing, my heart feel warm ...

It's going to be a busy month on the awards front for Gigi Gao's Favourite Authentic Chinese, here in Swansea Marina.
Firstly, apart from having won the 'Oscars equivalent' of the oriental culinary awards world at The Golden Chopsticks Awards in London in April, for The Best Oriental Restaurant in Wales, we have now been selected as finalists at the Asian Restaurant Awards 2018 in Grosvenor House Hotel, London on 18th of this month.
In addition, we are nominated (not told if... we have been selected as a finalist yet, as they haven't published details) at the British Chinese Food Awards at the Hilton Hotel, Heathrow on the same evening!
Finally on 26th Nov, we are finalists at The 2018 Restaurant Awards, Welsh Edition in Cardiff.
We'd very much like to thank all our customers for making this a dream year for Gigi Gao's Favourite Authentic Chinese...and our secret is that we have many more new plans to make your visits to the restaurant even more unique from 2019 and beyond. Gigi :) :) :)

Our weekly Jazz evening with The Steve Williams Band has been moved to Wednesday. Thank you for your understanding.

We had a selection of vegetarian dishes, all were lovely, griddled rumblings were lush, noodles were smokey savoury and the garlic broccoli was splendid. Staff were attentive and very friendly and can't wait to go back..

Visited Saturday with my partner and shared the vegan set menu. Food was gorgeous and we thoroughly enjoyed :-D

As we visited on a whim we forgot to take tip money with us and felt awful, but we will tip double next time I promise as the food and service was fantastic!

The food here is absolutely delicious and plenty of it. (I had to stop myself from licking the plates). I feel as if this is my first taste of Chinese food......what I have been eating all these years has been a cheap copy....

The setting, atmosphere and service were all superb. Everyone made us feel so welcome, as if they had known us for years - Even though it was our 1st visit. Big big thanks to the lovely Gigi who gave my husband a lovely gift of a handcut paper dog for his Birthday, to celebrate being born in the year of the dog..... so thoughtful ÔøΩÔøΩ

Really nice food and good service .u had crunchy mushroom salad starter was nice but really salty , main I had chicken curry and egg fried rice and that was really tasty.

Our son spent his 30th birthday tonight at your amazing resurant it was the best we have ever eaten!! The staff were outstanding food fantastic and they made his birthday extra special thank you to gigis team xxx

Our first visit to this wonderful restaurant on Saturday was an absolute triumph. Exquisite food, excellent hospitality and a very special birthday surprise gift made it a most memorable evening. Already looking forward to returning. Thank you Gigi, Steve and wonderful team.

I refuse to write a review because other people will read it and then they will go and taste the amazing food on offer. This means when I return to eat the delicious dumplings there will be a queue and I am not having that. The service and food were excellent and you can't beat having a Tsingtao to wash it down.

Great meal this evening, food was delicious and the staff friendly and polite. Can thoroughly recommend.

Fabulous food! Had lunch there yesterday and have just had my brunch from what I couldn't finish. Faultless.

Excellent food, everything tastes fresh and healthy. Our 3 year old enjoyed his first taste of Chinese food here and the staff were really great with him, would recommend for families.

Best Chinese ever! Chicken in basil is delcious, the veg noodles are so flavoursome and light! plus the best salt and pepper king prawns I've ever tasted. :)

i planned on going to one of two other places today but i needed to go somewhere that was opening before 12.

I happened to walk passed gigi Favourite authentic chinese and its open. I went here before but when it moved to this location.

This location is alot larger than their previous restaurant, inside the walls are covered in art work and so are the tables.

I ordered spicy boiled catfish veg noodles and a sour plum drink.

It is spicy but there is a lovely sweet and unami taste. the flavours were balance there was no over powering fish taste. one thing I will say is that there was loads of fish in the dish i was constantly pulling fish out.

the noodle were perfectly cooked not too oily or dry hard ones.

the drink tasty not too sour.

Prices. noodles were only a pound more than a take away. and the fish and drink were normal restaurant prices.

the staff are great the owner greater me at the door, she invited me to have a look around upstairs. and the waitress explained to me that what I thought was seaweed was in fact a type of mushroom

Great evening for my partners birthday made him feel very special. Food was excellent totally different from any Chinese we have been to before. Staff were excellent very attentive. Overall great evening

Service was slow - dishes arrived separately- on all courses, I had eaten my dessert before my partners arrived.

Rice brought with starter ! Instead of main course.

Food went cold very quickly. Venue was quite cold - everyone seemed to be wrapped up. But it was very cold outside.



Last round of drinks - failed to arrive. But we were offered a complimentary drink after we had pointed this out on settling the bill.

Staff friendly, venue clean.

In their defence, they did have a quite large group of guests upstairs.

Food was nice, although I found the egg fried rice was a bit gooey and the portions were small. Need to wash the the table cloths and seat covers more often as mine were dirty and covered in food stains. The service was good, but the food came out in dribs and drabs. Attention to detail is needed.

Very expensive tiny portions,no atmosphere, and chicken pieces the size of smarties. Wont be back at all!! Was much better when at old place. Shame! ÔøΩ
