Happy Christmas to all our customers.
We re-open on Thursday 27th December (1pm) and invite you to come along and enjoy a complimentary drink of Prosecco to celebrate the re-furbishment of our outdoor seating area. We look forward to seeing you and thank you for your continued support.

Please note our winter Opening Hours. The farm is closed to the general public from Thursday 28th November and re-opens on Thursday 27th December. Specialist Photographic Hides may be used during this period but only if they are booked and paid for in advance (the shop and coffee shop will be closed). If we have any snow during December, we will open; this will be communicated here on the website and via facebook. We'd like to thank all our visitors for their custom and wish you all a very happy Christmas. We look forward to welcoming you back to the farm after the festivities.

Thanks to our customers today who alerted us to an injured buzzard in the Kite Feeding Field. We have now rescued this bird, which is underweight and limping, and it's being cared for in our Rehabilitation Aviary. We'll keep you posted on its progress.

Please remember that the Clocks go back an hour this weekend (28 October 2018) so feeding will be at 2pm from Sunday onwards.

Special Festive Deal News: We are offering two photographers' packages in Red Kite View for the festive season, one for the Christmas week (7 nights arriving 22nd December) and the second for the New Year week (7 nights from 29th December). The package will include unlimited free access to the photographic hides (except the Kite Field Hide), a festive hampe...r (prosecco, mince pies, chocolate truffles etc, in addition to our usual start-up pack of essentials), and festive decorations. The farm is closed to the public through December re-opening on 27th December so anyone booking the Christmas deal will also have exclusive access from 22nd to 26th. We are now open - Saturday to Wednesday. Closed for maintenance etc on Thursdays and Fridays. The local mobile transmitter is out of action at the moment so calls to the Red Kite Centre, at Gigrin Farm, are not getting through. We are open today.

Red Kite View – Self Catering Log Cabin – Sleeps 4
Available to book from 1 August 2018
We are now putting the final touches to Red Kite View and can take bookings from 1st August.
... The cabin is located in a quiet corner of the farm. Access to the property is via the farmyard. For those of you not familiar with our farm, we are half a mile from Rhayader which has many pubs & restaurants, convenience stores and a post office.
The accommodation is on one level, and there is a flat level private garden to both the front and back, overlooking Rhayader, the farm buildings, and with breathtaking views to the Wye & Elan Valleys. There is parking for several vehicles.
The property is centrally heated, has double-glazing and has been completely refurbished with a new kitchen, bathroom, new flooring etc, and high quality furnishings.
The entrance hallway leads to an open plan layout comprising a living area with a log burner, two bedrooms (one either side) off the living room (1 x double bed) (1 x 2 single beds), a kitchen with electric hob, built in cooker & microwave, built in fridge freezer, built in dishwasher, washer dryer. There is a separate dining area with a door to outside. The bathroom (multi functional shower, toilet and washbasin) is located off the entrance hallway. Outside there is a small patio area to the rear with out-door seating.
We have taken some initial photographs but please note we still have some minor finishing off/tidying up work to do which will be completed by 1st August so these photographs are a little rough and ready for now.
Introductory prices are below and include:
All bedding and towels, electricity & gas, wi-fi, basket of logs (during the colder months,) toiletries, welcome pack (eggs, bread, butter, milk etc) plus 2 complimentary vouchers to see the Red Kite Feeding.
Short breaks of 3 nights minimum - £90 per night.
Full week £560 (Saturday changeover - equivalent of £80 per night).
The property is not suitable for children under 5 and we are not accepting pets.

Easter Monday - Open today 1pm to 5pm.
There is a light scattering of snow on the fields and hills, creating a lovely backdrop for photography. The roads and driveway are completely clear.

Please remember that the clocks go forward tonight, so we will be feeding the red kites at 3pm from tomorrow onward. The farm will open at 1pm as usual. We have a new outdoor but coveredseating area for your coffees, and a completely re-vamped shop.

POD & HIDE PROMOTION - our pod promotion proved to be very popular so we have decided to continue this through 2018. - book 2 nights in the pod and have 2 days for the price of 1 pp in a photographic hide(s) of your choice - subject to availability - cheapest hide is FOC. Snow alert 18th March 2018 We have heavy snow across the farm and it is still snowing, the wind is now blowing it into drifts. The farm's driveway will only be passable on foot. We will be feeding the red kites at 2pm
