Glamorgan Afc Description

Welcome to the official facebook page of Glamorgan AFC. Glamorgan AFC, an Amateur Football club based in Cardiff was founded in 2016 and started their journey in the Cardiff Combination Division 2. We have a 5-year plan in place to go up the leagues which we feel is very achievable giving the current very strong squad at our disposal.

If you wish to arrange a friendly, please contact us via social media. Our home games are currently played at the mound next to Pugh’s Garden Centre in Radyr, granted the changing rooms aren’t the best but these are hopefully due to a refurb in the coming year.

And that as they say, is that. After last nights 5-1 loss to Avenue 2nds Glamorgan’s season is over. We’d like to take this opportunity to congratulate Caerau 2nds on their league win and also wish Avenue Hotspur 2nds well in their final on Saturday; thoroughly deserved.
However, It’s not been a bad season for us:
Div 1 runners up. ... Sam Cornish cup Semi finalists
We’ve had a worse season. But now our attention turns to our awards day and next season. Not to mention the future of the club, with a lot of exciting announcements coming over the next few weeks. 👌🏻

Tonight our 1sts take on Avenue Hotspur FC 2nds in the Semi Final of the Sam Cornish Cup, in what we're sure will be a very entertaining game! ⚽️🔵

Great results for both our 1sts and 2nds on the weekend! 👏🏻👏🏻
Well Done Lads!

If you’re ever in the unfortunate position where you need your car recovered then give them a shout 👌🏻

So the draw has been made and Saturdays game will be against Aberystwyth 2nds. Kick off 2pm at the university pitches. If we win it’ll put us into the semi final against either Avenue 2nds or Cathays Cons 2nds. Both tough opposition.
Our reserves are home to Gabalfa FC this weekend in a must win game for promotion. Kick off 2pm.

Congratulations to Trelai FC who had cup success today with a 3-0 win in the divisional cup.
Well done lads

Another game ANOTHER pull out. We’ve been awarded a 3-0 win as Gabalfa FC aren’t able to field a team. Some would argue that it was awfully convenient that after scoring 18 goals in the two “cup” games against teams in our division, that the remainder in the group from the division below subsequently forfeited. Although we as a club wouldn’t like to pass judgement. This now leaves us with no fixture for a few weeks until we have our quarter final fixture. We’ll be looking for friendlies to tied us over so if you’re club are able to play then please get in touch.
Attention now turns to the reserves fixture against Fairwater 2nds. It’s a 2pm kickoff at Fairwater’s ground. If you get a chance to go down and watch then please do.

With the games called off it was a perfect opportunity to watch the next crop of welsh superstars in Dan James and Connor Roberts, and (unfortunately) the jacks at the Liberty Stadium.
To do it with hospitality seats courtesy of Richard at Total Teamwear Cardiff on behalf of Joma, meant it was a brilliant day out. Can’t wait for the next one. 👌🏻

RESULTS
Caerau 2nds 2-2 Glamorgan Reserves
Although the first half was evenly contested, Caerau went into the break 1-0 ahead after a mix up allowed the ball to fall to their striker who was clinical. It would have been two had the striker not fouled both the CB and the GK in pursuit of his goal. That was a wake up call.
... Once the second half kicked off our lads came out flying. A 20min period of sustained pressure seen us have 4 or 5 brilliant chances including hitting the post. But a counter attack seen the Caerau team go 2-0 ahead. With 25mins left the lads could have let their heads drop but to their credit they went again. A break away goal with an assist by Lloyd Teuma saw Josh House to tap it home. Then, after constant pressure and chances created the penalty was awards after a foul on our player. Up stepped Lloyd who missed. However the penalty was retaken after the Caerau players were found to be guilty of encroachment. Lloyd grabbed the ball again and nailed it into the top corner.
An absolutely terrific performance yesterday by the reserves. Considering the league positions of the two teams our reserves went into this game as massive underdogs but they more than held their own against a team who had previously beaten the firsts 4-1. A huge amount of credit goes to the squad and it goes to show the quality in strength and depth the club has to offer.
Our attentions now turn to next weeks fixture with the reserves taking on local rivals Avenue Hotspur 2nds at Wilson Rd and the Firsts looking to better the reserves result against Caerau 2nds in the later 4:15pm kick off at the uni pitches.
Well done lads. Keep it up!
