Gower Gallery Description
Gower Gallery is the reincarnation of Mumbles Fine Art, a long-established art gallery which has been a part of the community of Mumbles for many years. Refurbished and rebranded, the gallery is now expanding its collection to showcase a range of artists both from Wales and other parts of the UK.
Framing
Gower Gallery believe that for every picture, there’s a frame that fits it beautifully. With our new, dedicated framing workshop, we can help you find exactly what you’re looking for, from ready made frames to bespoke pieces. All of our frames and materials are of an exceptional standard, and with two experienced artists in-house, there’s always an opportunity to seek advice from those who understand your requirements.
About Arwen Banning
Born in Swansea, Arwen has been an avid painter from an early age, and after graduating with a degree in Fine Art from Newcastle University, has been shaping her career as a visual artist in New York, London and now, back in her home town. Arwen’s work has been included in the BP Portrait Award in the National Portrait Gallery and she has exhibited in the Mall Galleries, London, the Student Showcase Gallery in New York, Christie’s Auction House, The Royal Cambrian Acadamy in Conwy and the Royal College of Art to name just a few. Arwen’s art has been a key feature of Mumbles Fine Art for a number of years whilst under the management of her father, artist Ron Banning. Now, Arwen has taken the gallery under her wing, bringing her own unique style to the business, whilst working on her portfolio of paintings inspired by family life and the local Gower coastline.

Having exhibited the work of both Arwen and her father, Ron Banning over the past decades, the emergence of Gower Gallery has opened up opportunities to display the work of other artists, including; the ceramics of Jane Malvisi, Gill Pitman, Jane Davies and Christine Gittings, original paintings and 2 dimensional work from Sophie Nixon, Rachael Cook, Jane Bennet, Carys Evans and limited edition prints from Michelle Scragg . The gallery will also be showing the driftwood art of Gower artist Pippa Nielson.

NEW EDITION- We love Katie Allen's work so much at Gower Gallery, we've decided to add more NEW work to our collection! One being 'Three Cliffs Summer' - this beautiful new piece is now available at the Gallery.
We all know Swansea traffic can be a pain 🚗🚦but David Jeffreys may have designed a solution in the form of 'Mumbles Underground'. These quirky Map prints inspired by the London underground feature some of our favourite parts of Swansea as different station destinations. We are excited to be getting giclee prints by Valerie Ganz delivered to the gallery very soon!
Swansea based artist Valerie Ganz worked in about 15 coal mines, crawling around underground with the miners to create a unique record of their lives with her drawings and paintings.
We will have giclee prints mounted and cellophane wrapped or framed prints for you to choose from.
JUST IN - We have a new set of Gorgeous, framed Prints by Welsh Decorative Illustrator Hannah Davies. Based on the Gower's own Three Cliffs, Rhossili Bay and Langland Bay. These New Editions are available with her other set of work at the Gallery. Hannah Davies illustration .
There's still time to see the Summer Exhibition of Jan Beeny! Jan Beeny is a Ceramicist that lives and works in Cardiff, who creates these one off, slab-built Ceramic sculptures largely based on animals and more recently Human figures. Her distinct style is influenced by secondary sources such as medieval stained glass windows and tapestries. Her work is currently on display and can be purchased at the Gallery until the end of the Summer.
The Swansea 2018 Festival of Stitch are busy setting up at Mumbles Pier with yarn bombing, beautifully designed deck chairs decorated by local school children and exhibitions throughout the site we can't wait to see the finished array of talent and colour to surround our site! #swanseafestivalofstitch

Summer Opening Hours- We're hoping the lovely weather returns soon but we are now staying open later in the evenings from Thurday-Saturday until 7pm - Allowing a longer time to browse regardless of the weather!
