Farming and agriculture is still so important to Gower and surrounding areas in South Wales. We have got another set of great livestock shows and animal displays ready to go this year, and we can’t wait to see what animals (and owners) will win the ‘Gower Show Supreme Champion 2018’! Come on down to visit us today at Penrice Castle near Oxwich. You and the family will love it. http://ow.ly/T91230laYvA

It’s the Gower Show tomorrow but it’s not too late to think about coming along. If you haven’t had your chance to book in advance, you can pay at the gate. This year’s show will again be packed with competitions, crafts, entertainment and refreshments – ideal for a spontaneous family day out. http://ow.ly/cZbD30laYrY

We are sure a lot of you must be dog lovers! You won’t want to miss The Gower Show this year, as we have Little Nipper’s Terrier Racing showcasing their terrier and lurcher races on the agility courses... And you certainly wouldn’t want to miss the chance of getting involved in the racing with your own dog! http://ow.ly/XDQ830laYlc

Look out for the ‘Gower Ambassadors’ at the Gower Show who will be on hand to help you locate the different areas of the Show. Also visit them at the Tourism Swansea Bay (TSB) stand to learn all about them. http://ow.ly/enfL30laYp5

The Gower Show is a great celebration of local farming and agriculture, but we have so much more on offer! We’ve got so many displays and exhibits for you to come and have a nose at, including artistic flower arranging, arts and crafts, a honey tent, and even a cookery tent. You’ll be spoiled for choice! http://ow.ly/s59K30laY5K

What a fab day 1st time for me and my 2 children not forgetting our whippet jess definitely be going again

This show is always a great event, go every year and it never fails to entertain. Got there a little late this year, traffic was a nightmare. Why not have west bound traffic park on that side and east bound park that side.

This is an amazing day out. Especially for the kids.

Plenty to see from vintage to dog displays to bees (in a bee hut) to modern farm machinery. It has a very friendly and happy atmosphere.

I have been every year since i was born with all of my family and will be always be a place i feel at home.

Alot of people go to this show every year which can mean busy entry but once youre in its pretty much plain sailing.

For a show food and drink is plentyful and a tidy price. The tasters in the food tent are always nice.

I would recommend this show to anyone and will continue to go to each show every year as every year is different but always brilliant.

My first time at the Gower show and I was very impressed with it all. Really enjoyed it. Looking forward to next year's event. Xx

User

Lovely show which I support every year, lots to do, lots to see! I only wish the rings could be bigger for the horses

User

Loved the show yesterday you have to get there early to avoid the traffic jams because of the access apart from that plenty to see & do will be back next year 😀

User

Fabulous day out with the kids, will definitely be back next year!

User

Excellent family friendly day out. We exhibit at the show and the number of attractions and visitors continue to grow. Congratulations to everyone involved

User

Really enjoy this show. Well organised and well worth the entrance fee. Good selection in the food tent, and I love looking at the farm animals and stalls.

However the craft tent prices were a little extortionate. I appreciate the time and effort put in to make hand crafted items, but they are very expressive

Me and the family had a great day out, shame about the price of food but expect it at an event like this. The only thing that let it down was that the programmes weren't clear and the map itself was unclear and should have been in the middle across two pages. Other than that a great day had by all 😊

User

Always enjoy the Gower Show. Just a couple of things: I do wish there were more places to sit and eat near the food tent. Once again we found ourselves sitting on the grass behind the tent because there were no tables and chairs available outside the entrance. There were many other groups of people sitting on the ground there eating there lunch and they shouldn't have to.

Also would really have appreciated a sit down with tea and cake about 4 o'clock. If this was on offer I'm sure it would be appreciated and encourage people to stay longer.

User

We went to the Gower Show today. There was a great atmosphere with lots to do and food/drinks were reasonably priced with lots of selection. Unfortunately there were very few tables and chairs to sit on and none in the shade whatsoever. There is animal mess everywhere but of course I understand that this is a farm so I’m not complaining about this but more seating needed! I had to feed my toddler in her pram and I was unable to get my baby out to feed him on a very hot day so had to ask if I could sit in the judges tent. One man was not very happy but another was really kind and even gave me a bottle of water! Due to this we had to leave after 2 hours which is a shame as we paid £20 entry fee!

User

The show itself was great but problems with parking Marshall waving us past the car park when we wanted to park. The result we had to turn around and re-queue for the same car park.

User

Needs more information in the programme and plan/map of the show. ie. the different show rings . Oxwich/ Rhossili/Horton show rings were not shown on the plan - why not ?

User

The problems began almost immediately, as it took 2 hours to get into the show. It transpires that there is only one entrance for normal visitors to arrive and park, but there are at least two for "others", "others" presumably being local VIPs.

We were directed to a field to park. This field was completely unsuitable for parking, as it was very muddy and the grass was up to 6 ft high in places. Even the grass that was less than this was still at 4ft, completely unsuitable for parking cars, particularly as we stated at the gate one of our party was disabled (but we had no idea just how bad parking and the whole experience would turn out to be)

We got out of the car and made our way, very slowly, towards the entrance. The disabled person in our party has a visual impairment and is in the process of recovering from a foot injury. The walk towards the show entrance only served to aggravate the injury, as it involved climbing over numerous large earth banks, which, like the car park, were uneven and muddy. There was however no opportunity to safely turn back due to the sheer number of pedestrians and cars.

Things did not improve once inside the show itself (having been relieved of £27.50 for 3 adults for the privilege of entering. There are better shows of this type elsewhere in the UK charging less for admission). The walkways were so narrow that it was at times dangerous to move around, and impossible to conduct any meaningful browsing of the various stands. The issue was compounded by the fact that there were vehicles moving in and out of the crowds (a big no-no, for obvious safety reasons) There was a map attached to the show guide, which only showed a small part of what was on site. We went to the food tent, to get food and drink. There was nowhere to sit. By this point, the member of our party with the injured foot was in such a bad way that we had no option but to make for the exit. The entrance wasn't an exit, and the nearest exit was over half a mile away, across the same sort of terrain as the car park. When we eventually got to an exit, it turned out to be one of the entrances reserved for VIPs, being guarded by a number of marshals and police officers. Our driver left the rest of the group (including the member of our party who was by this point crying with the pain. I should say at this point we also saw no obvious signs for first aid at all whilst we were there) to go and retrieve our car from the car park. This involved him walking for nearly three miles around the outside of the site, and he only got back into the site through the VIP entrance because marshals were called away elsewhere and the police were understanding of our particular situation.

We left the Gower show £27.50 poorer, and having spent less than 2 hours at the show, and most of that was because of either queues for drinks or walking from the entrance to the exit.
