We had a lovely hour or two there yesterday walking along the canal just enjoying the peace and tranquillity. We stopped and chatted to a few people especially a couple from Llantrisant that moore their boat there. We didn't go in the cafe there but you could have tea/coffee and teacakes or ice creams. A few people we chatted go up there often taking their dogs.

We always enjoy visiting, beautiful place, friendly service at the café although I would also agree that using the same entrance to the café as the same to Santa's grotto was not a great idea at all, esp with small children, a lovely afternoon for my family we esp enjoyed the reindeer's and the pork n stuffing rolls

Thoroughly enjoyed the few hours at goytre wharf a place i have never been before. Took the dog and had a lovely walk amongst lovely friendly people. Cafe was fab, cheap and had really friendly staff. Will definitely go back. A lovely relaxing place to go with just £1 parking fee for the day.

This place is brilliant, I have grown up going here sometimes a few times a week with my Nan and grancher now I have been taking my boys here, there is a woods trail where you can get your children to keep a look out for in the trees there is also a wizards chair made out of a tree trunk, there is also information boards everywhere is you would like to learn more about the area, also interactive boards where your children can trun the boards to read about things they don't always see. Its a amazing place might be because it has big part of my childhood but take a look yourself and see trust me you wont be disappointed xx

User

Pleasant walk with the dog - weather great. Walked towards Abergavenny & took my time. Plenty of benches to sit and chill! Parking cheap for the day at £1:00. Been many times before and will continue to do so!

User

Lovely place, my friend and i and our 2 dogs had a lovely walk along the canal looking at all the boats everyone who passed us said hello, we had beautiful weather, then back to the little cafe for a drink, all the staff where very friendly and the dogs loved it, the £1 for the carpark was exceptional value all in all had a very enjoyable afternoon on Sunday 2nd July 2017, will definately be going back. Thank you..

Loved it first time yesterday to visit santa shame couldn't use the cottage for Santa instead of having the queue for santa and the cafe at the same place. Otherwise well worth it.

I was there Sat 10/6/17, with Monmouthshire District Scouts event Cubetrex, for Beavers and Cub scouts. I had a group of 10 youngsters plus adults for ratio.

We found it was a friendly and welcoming place, the beavers and cubs were able to do shelter building in the wood areas, and the site map was a good starter for them to map read. Visitors and residents were so friendly and asked the youngsters if they had had fun and what had they been doing ect.

Definitely a place to consider again (If they'll have us) x

I have always loved going to Goyte Wharf since I was a child and it has never failed to be good day out. A quaint and cheerful gem set in a picturesque location with a collection of delightful barges and boats.

User

Hi there

Enjoyed the canal walk of six miles there and back in ideal weather conditions the foliage and fauna was as its best with the blue bells giving that extra colour very nice

The cafeteria and building area very well presented and very nice the service was very good although I would have liked my jacket potatoes much warmer I was also disappointed the musium. Was closed

Dave gave us a guided tour of the canal and history of the area such went down very well

All in all a good day out with nice friends and good company thanks

User

Excellent service from cafe, Jude's history presentation and the boat shop. Our son and I really enjoyed our bike ride there and back, thank you for making our sunny afternoon complete.

User

Excellent location and lots of friendly, lovely people. I chose to go there because I'm disabled and there's a circular walk of about a mile with benches along the route. Very dog friendly, lots of fresh water outside the cafe for my lot! Enjoyed looking at the barges and it's a very peaceful place.

We are Goytre Ward regulars and booked our tickets for Santas grotto well in advance. I think the popularity of the event had taken the event organisers by surprise. Agree it would have been much better to have different access to the grotto, either around the back or near the reindeer. The reindeer were an amazing feature. We still had a lovely time and will be back. Thank you.

User

Nice place for a walk, picturesque countryside. Unfortunately the tunnel under the canal to the path was very rocky and the incline very steep. Luckily my mother is not confined to her wheelchair, would have been very difficult if she were.

User

Lovely walks but one major problem here no dog foul bins and as a result careless owners leave dog poo bags everywhere. At one point in the forest the was quite a pile... so put a bin there

User

Beautiful place. First time to visit yesterday (3/12/16) was a bit of a shambles with the que to visit santa and the cafe was the same door and waiting over an hour with a 2 year old in the cold wasn't fun. Maybe santa should have been in the cottage by the reindeer or a wooden hut close to them would have saved alot of pushing and shoving. Would visit again at a quieter time

User

Nice place had a short walk by the canal and managed to take some lovely pictures. Only one thing that spoilt it was the amount of of dog mess, disgusting. Dog owners take some responsibility please

User

Goyter Wharf used to be a great place, My Wife Suzanne my Daughter Bryony and myself often went there to feed the fish, we would go to a local supermarket buy a loaf of bread and feed the whole lot to the large carp. My Daughter used to call them sucking fish as they would suck the bread into their large mouths but Yesterday I never saw one fish. Also you could walk around the boats and see the very many different types but now there are so many fences up you can not see anything. After paying a pound to park you would think there would be something to do there, but I am afraid there's not a lot to do. You can cross to the other side and walk along the canal but thats it.
