Establishing Llyn Parc Mawr as a sustainable woodland area to benefit wildlife and the well-being of the community of Newborough and District

Llyn Parc Mawr Commununity Woodland Group became constituted in April 2015. The purpose of Llyn Parc Mawr Community woodland group is to establish Llyn Parc Mawr as a sustainable woodland area to benefit wildlife and contribute to the well-being of the community of Newborough and District and for public enjoyment:


The Objects of the group are:

Ensuring productive, diverse and resilient forestry using appropriate silvicultural systems;

1. Establishment and maintenance of a diverse range of functional wildlife habitats containing healthy, viable and resilient populations of native flora and fauna

2. Supporting the well-being of the people of Newborough and District by:

- encouraging a sense of place;
- building community identity,
- providing a range of recreational and social activities and
- opportunities for volunteering, training, work and education.

The woodland group aims to generate multiple benefits for the environment, wildlife and community (e. g. areas for children to use, wildlife havens, coppicing to create products and local jobs, an opportunity to be creative, to bring families into the woods and to improve a valuable resource).
