Good drink prices and affordable accommodation

We hosted a ladies convention here, 21 ladies, excellent facilities and super clean. There was a wet room on the ground floor with bedroom near the car park. Parking for 5/6 cars. Easy to find and lounge was beautiful. Thoroughly recommend. Lots of steps good for exercise but not if you have mobility problems.

Why have I given this place Five Stars? Because the generosity, goodwill and compassionate nature of the proprietor and that's without me going on about the quality of the hostel it's self. Though, it's laughable to call it a hostel as the finish and facilities are better than most hotels.
I am currently cycling around the coast and I arrived in Chepstow looking for a campsite, there are currently no campsites local, to my knowledge, so I headed to the hostel. I was told it was full, but to wait for Mike who owned it as he would know for sure, on his return he said it was full but proceeded to try and think where I could camp he showed me some grass out the back and said I could camp there, then out the blue like a lightbulb had gone off, he tells me to follow him. He leads me back in the hostel and down some stairs to the 'Medieval room' as he calls it as it was built in 1290. The oldest part of the building. It was currently being renovated, he hands me a camp bed asks if I have a sleeping bag. He tells me it's going to cost me £10 and I'm to put it in the poppy appeal tub. What a guy. Another cyclist rang later and he ended up with me in 'medieval room' too. It also has one of the only greenmen with his tongue out on the ceiling, an original from 1290. It's worth going to Chepstow just to stay in the hostel. I'll definitely be returning.

This place was a total gem. It is more than a hostel. It's more like a historic hotel, with all the best amenities, at the price of a hostel. The rooms, lounge, bar and bathrooms are all new and well appointed. The place has soul. I would highly recommend this place.

Stayed for 2 nights in March 2017 whilst walking Offas Dyke LDWP. Used it as my base to walk varoius 10 mile sections. One word, BRILLIANT! Clean, friendly. Kitchen and lounge area done to a very high spec for a hostel.

This hostel is a very special place. The accommodation is stunning, clean and warm. Spend time looking at the photos and artwork on the walls. It is worth it. Mick and Vanessa are smashing and could not have been more welcoming and helpful. If you get a chance to "swing the lantern" with Mick, take it. He is a fascinating bloke.
