Today is the 103rd Anniversary of the first day of The Battle of the Somme. We have put together an album of some of our favourite photos from tours.

We are spending a couple of weeks in France and Belgium developing our walking tours. Walking is a great way to see the WW1 battlefields and these tours have always been very popular. We are planning to put our walks together into a book.

We visited the American Cemetery at Bony. Many of our past guests have been here with us. We were touched to see many graves with flowers and a flag beside each cross

Walking around the Ramparts at Ypres, we passed the casement where the Wipers Times was printed. We spotted this printing press in the corner. While we would not suggest it is the original from WW 1, we found it evocative.

In Adlestrop today. Susan sitting on a seat from the old railway station with the original station sign. The station was the subject of Edward Thomas's most famous poem. He died at Arras in 1917.

Happy New Year to everyone. This is a big year for us, as the November Armistice Centenary tour was our last coach tour. We have had a brilliant ten years operating coach tours and have met some wonderful people. Thank you to all of you who have travelled with us; some of you lots of times. This is not the end of Guided Battlefield Tours. We are going to focus on creating bespoke tours that still have our "Guided Battlefield Tour" ethos for people who want to travel independently. We took two groups out to France and Belgium for our Armistice Centenary tour. This was an unforgettable five days visiting sites of the historic events on 1918. We were in Ypres for the Armistice Day parade and also, at Mons, we saw the graves of the first and last Commonwealth soldiers killed in action during WW1. A big thank you to all of those people who travelled with us, many of whom had travelled with us many times before.

Another special tour from this very special Armistice Centenary year. We were in Ypres for the Last Post ceremony on Armistice Day and followed the Advance of the British Second Army to Lessines, the town which they liberated minutes before 11.00am on 11 November 1918. We also visited Mons, where we saw the graves of the first and last Commonwealth soldiers killed in action during WW1. Our guests in this particular group were from all over the UK and from the USA and Canada. We thank you all for travelling with us.

This has been a very special year and this tour took us to sites of historic events of 1918. We stood on the bridge at Riqueval 100 years to the day on which it was captured, when British troops smashed through the Hindenburg Line. Steve and Susan want to thank everyone who travelled with us; we have some wonderful memories from the tour.
