ROH Mayerling (Ballet)
Sunday October 21st 2pm
DANGEROUS DESIRES, FAMILY SECRETS AND POLITICAL INTRIGUES TWIST THROUGH EVERY MOMENT OF DARING CHOREOGRAPHY IN KENNETH MACMILLAN’S BALLET INSPIRED BY TRUE EVENTS
... Mayerling is a classic of the Royal Ballet repertory, with its emotional depth, haunting imagery, and one of the most demanding roles ever created for a male dancer.
Kenneth MacMillan choreographed a complex work around the psychologically tormented heir to the Habsburg Empire, Crown Prince Rudolf. From the ballet’s start, the glamour of the Austro-Hungarian court is contrasted with undercurrents of sexual and political intrigue that drive the story to its violent climax in a double suicide.
The large cast allows for impressive ensembles in addition to the ballet’s many solos of distinctive character and pas de deux of disturbing eroticism. This ballet, bursting with intensity, madness and passion, proves that sometimes the truth is more scandalous than fiction.

Visited for the first time yesterday with my children. The staff were very welcoming and went out of their way to make sure we had a good experience. We loved it so much we are going back Sunday

User

Very impressed with the refurbishment (I've not been here for years!) The food court was lovely and the cinema is fab! It's only small so you're not surrounded by noisy people, the seats are comfy and they provide booster seats for smaller viewers. I will definitely be going back again.

User

Very impressed booked it on line tickets was easy to pick up. It was for the first time in the summer I was able to take my children to see the new films thanks to the £3.50 deal witch I'm very grateful for looking forward to our next visit. Very clean and tidy through out. Massive thank you

User

Theres not much going for neath at the moment but to have this place in town has been a God send! Me and my daughter have seen some brilliant shows here , and for us both to watch a film the cost was only £7. Bargin 👌

User

The Gwyn hall is an excellent place to visit, all the staff are very friendly and helpful and it's reasonably priced too

User

My first visit and I love what they've done with the place. The staff were friendly and helpful and conducive to my return.

We went to see the Fureys and thoroughly enjoyed it. My only gripe would be the seating. Comfy enough but the leg room was a little restricted.

We will definable return but choose our seating more carefully. Well done all at the Gwyn Hall, we'll be back.

User

Made my first visit with my wife Teresa for the Cavern Beatles on Sat 22nd April since the major refurbishment and was extremely impressed.

It is a superb venue and the concert was absolutely brilliant.

My wife has mobility difficulties with extreme arthritis and so used her wheelchair to attend, we had a wonderful welcome and the staff couldn't do enough for us, the disabled facilities were found to be excellent.

Hopefully promoters will put on some good rock shows in future which we would love to attend.

Showing my age now but I remember seeing The Groundhogs with the wonderful Tony McPhee at the old Gwyn Hall back in about 1971, the place has certainly changed since that time.

User

Lovely place all the latest films and so reasonable only £3.50 for all tickets we've been there many times with our grandchildren the price is £3.50 all through the school summer holidays

User
