Haberdashers' Adams

About Haberdashers' Adams

Founded in 1656 by Newport businessman William Adams, Haberdashers' Adams is a selective state grammar school for boys aged 11-18 and girls aged 16-18 (day only) with state boarding for boys. We're proud to be a member of the Haberdashers' family of schools and retain strong links with the organisation. Adams is now home to over 900 pupils, 360 of whom are in our thriving Sixth Form and just over 100 boarders. Pupils join us from in and around the Newport area as well as further afield with boarders from across the UK as well as from further afield such as Spain and Hong Kong. Although we pride ourselves on the excellent academic results our pupils achieve we know that education is about so much more than this. Our aim is to help our pupils to become confident and articulate young people who are interesting to talk to and interested in the world around them. In the words of a former pupil "Your time at Adams will be one of life's great adventures" and we encourage all pupils to seize the many opportunities given to them at the school. From singing to CCF and from rugby to debating the opportunities for pupils to find a passion are almost endless.
