A little follow up of the job a couple of weeks ago with the horrendous pipework layout and generally poorly designed system, I think it turned out OK. Would have liked to have got everything into the boiler area tidier but there was a lot to go in a not much room and no option to alter exiting pipework buried in the wall. All components are easily accessible for future maintenace etc. Solar ready for when the weather improves to add a bit of renewable into the property 👌 #cushty #livvinthepipedream

Come across quite a few "questionable" installs over the last 17 or so years, this one is up there in the top 5 I think. Lot of unnecessary pipework going on, radiator circuits running when HW is required, whole house fed off a shower pump, stored water going to basins etc, wiring stressed to the max, it's nasty 😂 New Unvented Hot water cylinder going in next week along with new boiler to replace the mighty Trianco. Will update next week when some progress is made 🙂

Soooo... The competition is over for 2109!! Massive congratulations to Darren Mcghee for winning, an absolute top bloke who does so much for his local community and charity as well as his amazing idea of launching a brilliant idea of my roofcare, a roof maintenance package. I gave it my best shot at interview and not grumpy about it at all, I've met some seriously top tradespeople in the last 2 days, Darren is a well deserved winner and I understand why the judges chose him.... Huge thankyou to screwfix and everyone involved behind the scenes from the outset, the hospitality and care we've received has been second to none. Great to meet and mix with some of the CEO's of some of the major brands in the construction industry, a real priveledge. Thats me done for competitions for the foreseeable 😂, I'll quote Vinnie Jones once again.... "it's been emotional"

Absolutely delighted to announce I've made it through from the Semi Finals to the Final of the Screwfix Tradesperson of the Year 2019!! Farnborough bound for the final and presentation along with 9 other finalists on the 27th September. Thankyou everyone for your support and kind words and the Brecon and Radnor Express for supporting me once again, you're a lovely bunch!! Can't wait to get to the final and give it my best shot, there's some amazing tradespeople there so will have to really bring my A Game. Thanks again 🙏👍

Some photos of myself and my presentation/interview for the Final of "UK Plumber of the Year 2018". Overwhelmed by everybody's support from the outset. A great experience and amazing to have been in the position to meet such well respected gentlemen in the Plumbing industry.

Had to show this 15year old Worcester Boiler some love, "serviced" for several years by another company. It was evident from the get go that it has never received a full "strip down" and proper clean out. Running like a German watch when we completed a thorough service, with plenty of years of trouble free running left in it. #wb #happy15thbirthday #donthatewhatyoudontunderstand #proven

So, a little update on the UKPOTY 2018. Interview and presentation went really well on Thursday, spent a good 45mins with all the judges going over all my history, work type, PowerPoint etc etc and had really good feedback. Recieved a phonecall Friday (which I had to keep quiet about until today) to say that unfortunately I'd just been pipped to the post and that the judges had had a lengthy debate about who to crown the winner, with it coming down to half a point betwee...n myself and Mr Steve Bartin. Naturally, I'm a little 'deflated' to not quite get the top spot for 2018, but quite honesty I couldn't and wouldn't have done it any other way than how I did on the day. I'd like to say a HUGE thankyou to everyone for your support ( The Brecon ans Radnor Express, family, friends, customers and of course "Mrs H") throughout, from the start a good few weeks ago right up until now, as Vinnie Jones famously said in "Lock stock", "it's been emotional" .
