‘Paula Williams helped my daughter with her GCSE English Literature and Language last year.

My daughter followed the Eduqas specifications – this board awards the new English system grades 9 to 1 instead of A* to F. At the end of Year 10, she was on grade 5 (C ) for both Literature and Language but with the help of Paula’s excellent tuition and guidance, my daughter achieved a grade 8 (A*) in both last August.

Paula provided my daughter with a comprehensive revision file for English Literature and they completed this together during the weekly sessions. Paula also worked tirelessly with my daughter in helping her prepare the essay for the Language exam. Feedback was always encouraging and positive throughout the whole year.

During the course of the year, my daughter gained confidence and was fully prepared in time for the GCSE exams.

I would strongly recommend Paula to anybody who is looking for further support with their English studies.’

Would definitely recommend Headstart Wales.

Paula helped me produce my personal statement for my UCAS application. I was massively unsure of what my University application should consist of and facing up to completing it was a terrifying experience but Paula was able to help transfer the words and ideas from my head into my personal statement in a structured and understandable way. This made the process much more relaxing and even exciting! After sending off my UCAS application i received many offers from my chosen universities, including 2 unconditional offers for the course i had chosen!

Headstart also helped me achieve grades much higher than my predicted at GCSE for English Language. Paula was able to target my specific needs and weaknesses in the subject and positively help work towards improving them!

I couldn’t be more to Headstart Wales for the help and support i have received off paula, in such a relaxed and positive environment!

When the time came to apply to university, top of the to-do list was the dreaded personal statement! Having initially been rejected first time round to study Medicine I knew that my application needed to stand out. Different from the competition yet still ticking all the necessary boxes. Headstart helped me to communicate all the different aspects of my personal statement concisely and fluently. I felt so much more confident applying the second time round and am so grateful to Headstart for all the time and effort they invested in my application but also in me as a person. As a result, I was able to secure a place at my top-choice university… all within a couple of months of sending off my application! My only regret is that I didn't contact Headstart earlier!

Paula has tutored both of my children that have been through the GCSE process. I can't recommend her enough! She is professional but very approachable and her enthusiasm for her subject shines through. My children approached English from different perspectives, one with fear and trembling and the other with a good degree of confidence. Paula was able to coach them both based on their individual needs and helped them achieve great grades.

Paula at Headstart

helped all four of my children with their English in various ways over the years.

Her encouragement, good humour and general capacity to get to the heart of where they needed support was invaluable.

I would totally recommend her workshops to boost confidence as well as grades.

She also provided support with their UCAS personal statements for Medicine, teaching and nursing. All four were offered their choice of places. It was an excellent service and made the experience far less stressful.

My eldest son who is dyslexic attended a GCSE exam workshop and as a direct result of Paula’s specific teaching he achieved 3 grades higher in his English language GCSE resit. His results were so pleasing that my youngest son now has private tuition in preparation for his English literature and language GCSEs and his results have already significantly improved. Paula is professional, motivated and thorough, and both my children have felt very comfortable going to her and being taught by her. Highly recommended.

My daughter attended lessons with Paula for English Language and Literature. Paula raised my daughter’s confidence and ability in both subjects that she achieved 3 grades higher than she probably would have done without tutoring. Paula is calm, encouraging and brilliant at teaching students who have difficulties with English or who lack confidence.

I would recommend Headstart any day! They have helped me achieve GCSE’s far above my predicted grades in English Language and Literature, allowing me to apply to University for Children’s nursing. Headstart helped me hugely when writing my personal statement, making the process a lot less stressful and A LOT more professional compared to if I had done it alone I submitted my UCAS application in September and received interview invitations for every University that I had applied to by January which is very early for nursing. I then received offers from my first and second choice Universities which is wayyyyy more than I ever thought I would get.

They helped me when knowing what examiners or Universities would be looking for in exams and personal statements respectively while also believing in me when I didn’t myself!

Couldn’t thank them enough! I would recommend Headstart to anyone at any stage of life!

I have gone back to Headstart on numerous occasions throughout the last 5 years. They helped me to reorganise and focus my personal statement during my university applications. They were able to restructure sentences and fine tune the content to make it more suitable to the universities and courses I was applying to and as such I received all my offers.

More recently I have used Headstart in assisting me with interview applications, all of which have been successful and helped me achieve one of my dream jobs.

THANK YOU HEADSTART!

Headstart went above and beyond in helping me with my application.

For someone who tends to be fairly verbose, Headstart enabled me to say everything in a neat and concise manner.

Not only did Headstart help the personal statement side of the application but their friendly nature meant that they were genuinely interested in me and really helped me when it came to picking universities.

I would certainly go back to Headstart for similar help in the future.
