HOYS week but more importantly for us today the homecoming of HENIARTH QUIP after three years away in Belgium at the Voermanhof Stud with Marc & Anita Aerts. At twenty two years of age we couldn't be more pleased with the way he looks. Home just in time to witness his protégé, the even tinier India Latter partner his brother Heniarth Quinnell, and his nephew Heniarth Yes Sir with Aston Potter-Firth compete in the Horse of the Year Show final. Good luck to all our friends , bring the spoils back to Wales (and North Yorkshire!)

Lovely to see a photo of RHOSON ANNWYL ETO by Heniarth Wood-Wind ex Rhoson Anna Lena (Millcroft Ghost x Rhoson Anja by Eyarth Sama doing well for the Goldengrove Stud in Ireland. Annwyl Eto is a three quarter sister to the successful Dutch sire Rhoson Amlyn, whilst in Scotland Heniarth Norman Stanley Fletcher, "Porridge" (Heniarth Yarra Glen x Sunwillow Georgina by Heniarth Quip) made young one man very happy!

Well that's this pair done and dusted for 2018 with two seconds at Pembrokeshire County Show today. Thrilled with the reaction both Rhoson Dorti by Steehorst Kyro and her foal Heniarth Do-Re-Mi by Tooravale Houston have received, with the latter giving her Dutch owner a tremendous thrill by winning the Royal Welsh Show in July. Dorti's other daughters, H.Daisy Does It and H.Let's Do It by Heniarth Wood-Wind have also been winners this season which speaks volumes for her valu...e to us, beyond the show ring. Wood-Wind sired the 1st & 2nd barren mares today with Longhalves Lollapaloosa taking the Reserve Overall slot, as well as his son Heniarth Antique collecting the Youngstock title continuing on from his dam, Rhoson Anoushka, also by Kyro who was overall B champion here two years ago. The Mountain Pony ring saw three offspring of Blanche Montana winning with Cwmmeudwy Bonwr out of a Heniarth Quip mare taking Reserve Youngstock, with Quip being grandsire of the evergreen Tryfal Triumph who was Reserve Overall. Heniarth Brando by Montana took the Overall Gelding supreme, being a grandsire of H.Quinnell. All in all a very pleasing day, despite Mei coming into unplanned contact with a neighbouring hoof, but he'll live. Photos, not from today, by Equinepix

Great opportunity..

Welsh National Show - with a 3rd in the Sarum Investments Gelding Final with Heniarth Written in the Wind (Rhoson Adonis), and a fifth in the Brightwells Final with Rhoson Dorti (Steehorst Kyro), the high point for us was Heniarth Tumbarumba (Tooravale Houston) finishing her season, how she started at Glanusk with a Youngstock Championship in the Silver Medal section. Unknown to us, her half brother Heniarth Tintagel (Rhoson Adonis x Heniarth Ting-a-Ling) was being crowned Champion at the Normandy Regional Welsh Show in France with Heniarth Yours Truly (Heniarth Quip) standing as Reserve Champion in the Mountain Pony section. Royal Welsh Show, second trip in, after three hours sleep...HENIARTH TUMBARUMBA (Tooravale Houston x Heniarth Ting-a-Ling by Lemonshill Top Note out of Eyarth Windflower), 3rd in the largest class of the day I believe, with the winner being Tea Time de l' Aurore for Ingrid Delaitre, by the Heniarth Ting-a-Ling son Heniarth Tintagel and out the Eyarth Windflower daughter Heniarth Thingamajig who was by Rhoson Shem...so keeping it all in the family! Huge well done to the Potter family for wining the Horse of the Year Show Lead Rein qualification at the Scottish Horse Show for the second year running with Heniarth Yes Sir. His sire Heniarth Mr Milligan was named after the late. John Milligan, Roseisle Stud, who was Chairman of the Scottish Horse Show for many years, and met his namesake there when we travelled to Scotland back in 2005. Scottish breeding at it's best!

Best part of the day as a sea mist rolled in this morning so even more happy to have decided to stay home. Best of luck to any Heniarth/Rhoson bred ponies out and about this weekend. Stay as cool as you can!

A very enjoyable day at Northleach Show on Saturday catching up with old friends and seeing the stock by both Heniarth Quinnell and Heniarth Wood-Wind doing so well under saddle and then today attending the Ceredigion Association Show that sadly saw a walkover for both Rhoson Dorti (Steehorst Kyro x Rhoson Sipsi by Cottrell Faberge) and her foal Heniarth Do-Re-Mi by Tooravale Houston in their classes. However, we soon had cause for celebration when she became Overall Champion Section B for Mr. Peter Jones (Menai) and then Reserve Supreme Champion under the Show President, Mr. Lloyd Jones (Ystrad Dewi). Who says you need Ed Sheeran to have fun in Wales on a warm June weekend?

HENIARTH WRITTEN IN THE WIND, 3.y.o. gelding by Rhoson Adonis ex Eyarth Windflower (aka "Ted") had a big day out at Blaenavon's 50th Silver Medal Show winning his class, Youngstock Champion, Reserve Section B Champion and then Supreme Gelding Champion - taking it all in his stride which is promising for a potential saddle career. A great day at the Royal Three Counties Show at Malvern. Three year old Heniarth Tarantella won the largest class of the Welsh breeds and stood reserve overall Champion to the stallion Moelview Moonstruck who then went on to be Overall Welsh Champion. Congratulations Richard and Jane. A huge well done to Sue and Mike Harris - Castlemead whose three year old colt Heniarth Talk the talk also won his class. Both these young ponies are by Rhoson Adonis out of the Eyarth Windflower daughters Ting-a-ling and Tittle Tattle.

That's foaling finally over for 2018. Last years Royal Welsh winning filly EYARTH CHLOE (Rhoson Shem x Eyarth Isabella) produced a palomino filly by Tooravale Houston today, bringing the total to 6 fillies and 4 colts.
