High Country Romneys

A few things ticked off the list over the last month up the hill: Ewes shorn, rams are out, electric fences are up and shagging sheep are on winter rotations. A few snaps from the last month.

It’s been good between the showers and pretty wet otherwise. Hasn’t stopped the show though. Ewes are being grouped together ready for tupping and our two top shaggers are kindly donating some of their swimmers. #spermbank #genetics #autumn #sheep

WANTED: BLUE GLOVE BILL. Wanted in connection to the violation of ram lambs! Please don’t stand too close to him when he has the gloves on, he has a FECing good time in mind...... That’s our testing group of ram lambs brought up to a high worm burden and individually sampled on fingering Friday. This measurement then goes towards calculating our FEC EBV. Fecpak

It’s that time of year when everything is mobbed up and the rotations begin. Always fun to start with when moving ewes and lambs. Lambs and grass are growing well.

Lambing is in full swing with us now. We started at the end of last week in the snow. Luckily only a handful then but good to see maternal instincts kicking in and lambs surviving and thriving whatever the conditions. #sheep #lambing #wales

Moss is less than impressed with the snow and the turnips. Luckily the sheep don’t mind. A belated happy New Year to everyone!

Our new boys from Ngaio Glen touched down back in September and are settling in to their new home before they are shown the ladies later this week. It seems a long time ago that we were over in NZ visiting Ngaio Glen, but finally seeing them at home makes the long process all worth while. We are excited to see what their genetic will bring to the flock. #sheep #nzromneys #genetics

Rambo was not that bothered by the view and even less bothered about the drive we took him and his mates on. They’re off for a good time though so shouldn’t complain too much. Rams are now spread all over the country. #deliverashagger #nzromney
