Hillside Eventing 'Sarah Roberts-Tomkins' Description

my name is sarah (Roberts) Tomkins and i am 28yo, i have years of experiaence starting on breaking yards at 14years old and have experience from Andrew Heffernan and Dave quickley, i then worked for Ran Arbel for 3yrs as head girl producing top quality young horse and after that went to Westpoint stud to learn AI in the summer and breaking and producing young stock in the winter. after having my daughter i started working from home doing free lance riding and teaching and progressed to having more and more horses in at home for schooling, sales and competition and i am loving every minute of it. i have competed up to intermediate and 1* AND WOULD REALLY LIKE TO PROGRESS FURTHER. I am a holder of the prestigious pc 'A' test and pride myself in working with my horses professionally and in complete harmony, treating each horse to its own, even the most hair rated mares will struggle to get hair raised with me. I have regular training with fab coaches and I am training & competing adv /med dressage and jumping and xc schooling regularly.

First up we got Mother on board for a hack with Holz, Harv and Honey before heading over to Heidis for a Brand hall prep firstly SJ with Wall (I officially have the smallest face with sand attracting eyes) then a cuppa before boxing over to Poole Equine to practice our dressage on grass (after last weeks excitement) and to sensitize tails coat and look dapper in my true matching clobber after a pre cuppa while it rained... thank Lucas and Alex great to visit your lovely yard and then over to Heidis for Supper cooked by hers Truely (your a lucky man Alex page) as always left with wardrobe 😂😂 feels like Christmas, much love to you my friends 😘 long but good day, if your going to work on a bank hol make it a sociable one ☝️ 😜

Prompted by my Linkin account & a message from Simon Woods I am reminded that being my own Boss has a 10yr anniversary, during my pregnancy with Milly I was convinced I would go back to work at West Point Stud, a job i loved with the variety of breaking & producing approx 10 homebreds a season during winter and then stud work in the summer months but as soon as my maternity started I was approached by Owners requested schooling and sales livery’s whilst they knew I was tied ...up at home, and that was the beginning of “Hillside Eventing” I managed in all a 2 weeks break from riding to have Milly and then work began, 5 years after we built our new shed for stables to take in the demand and we haven’t looked back... I just want to thank every single, owner client and team member for helping me achieve what I never dreamt possible and of course all my family for all their hard work. I was lucky enough to learn from the best to ensure my knowledge would aid my business so a thank you to Andrew Heffernan and Dave Quigley for the experience and Ran and Edward for the wealth of Knowledge towards helping us be successful today. Here’s to another 10years. Thank you all
Big thank you sponsors for your continued support as I head into my 5th year of Sponsorship with Rowen Barbary Team

Solomon as he is known at home is a middleweight 8yo show hunter Gelding approximately 17.2 that needs no introduction and oozes quality.
Very successful in the show ring, qualifying with ease for RIHS 2016,2017,2018, rarely unplaced and has been unbeaten at local level including 2 supreme champion titles.
Solomon was also reserve supreme champion at Equifest in 2016 and took to the indoor arena experience very well with no ear plugs or calmer, this is a testament to his won...derful temperament.
Seriously smart horse with a great future competing in any discipline, he has a fantastic trainable attitude and would excel at anything asked of him and a very bold, careful jumper.
Good enough to make a quality working hunter or event horse jumping up to 1m currently, he is a very bold, careful jumper but be assured his success as a show horse does not limit his ability for any other discipline. He has also started XC schooling which he has taken very well to. In addition, he has also won dressage at Novice level.
Suit an ambitious amateur or professional to compete in any sphere. Fit & ready to go

#MiniMe #Deserve their own post
So I posted that Millie turned 10 on Thursday, left me feeling quite emotional but nothing is to much and we are so happy to have secured the ownership of the lovely Harvey on the Wednesday but only told Millie on Thursday morning following their early week outings, Harvey has been a show jumping pony with the same young boys for his entire career so it was important to us that he would at least attempt xc and not have a melt down about water s...o we took him to Radfords for a pc clinic to see what he would think of his first xc experience, a little hesitant at first to get his feet wet but gave Milly her first true feeling of the partnership out on a xc field and they both loved it jumping the entire BE80 course and the last 90 with very little trouble.
Tuesday night I was teaching on the XC and Milly and mum went up to the yard for the start of the Radfords Tuesday night jumping, the sun bought out lots of competitors for a busy night of friendly jumping.
The pair competed in the 70cm first as their first ever course together and they WON so Millie feeling ambitious went into her first ever 80 competition and WON that also #winnewinner #proud

Phwwwaaahhhh Monday morning, sun is out. New week begins after a few days commuting to @fairfax and favour Rockingham Castle horse trials... This is a beautiful event unfortunately I didn’t have chance to look around the outstanding shopping village but maybe that’s a bonus 😜 Holly was in the CCI3*-S and we produced our test Thursday loosing many marks on all the walks in the test as Holly didn’t feel walk was expressive enough 🙈 Saturday morning I spent over 20minutes tryin...g to catch her to head back for the jumping where we were absolutely thrilled with just the last two fences down in an incredibly busy, buzzing atmospheric arena, we were so happy thanks to Aurthers input. On to XC our favorite part, the course going in the opposite direction this year and as ever making great use of the undulating ground, we were flying around making all the combinations feel easy, until the water... I had her in front of my leg for the hedge in but she put the handbreak on in the water making it impossible to jump the hanging log in the water 😫 we didn’t particularly jump it in style on second approach but finished great. We were really hoping for a Mer so that we can do a Long format so naturally I felt pretty gutted as this is our best phase and I question what I could have done differently but fellow RBTeam member Charlotte kindly said she was at the water and I was doing everything I could but unfortunately Holly wasn’t responding 🙄
Sunday we met Heidi, Sal and Duke for a very late run, a 4.20 Dressage Time 😳 Duke was a little edgy, worked in nicely and off we went to strut our stuff... here comes a first... for bucking out of the arena 😂😂 actually thought I was going to come off but managed to contain him for the remainder of the test, an annoying start but all the same his wild character played him well for the jumping being super consistent in the ring giving a great feel just feeling robbed of the clear as he slipped into the final treble just having the middle part down but gosh he tried really hard, and finished with a super clear XC picking up a couple of time but a super run before his first 2* in a fortnight. Some competitions our out to test us and this was one but each con has a pro so we will concentrate on those x

The pamper sesh made her feel to good 🙈 she was gleaming from tip to toe thanks to my sponsors but a fire breathing dragon she was, halts and walks and pirouettes need removing from tests according to Holly, has she performed half the test she did on Tuesday we would have been in great position but Noooo Hols had other ideas... How the test should have looked is in comments 🙈

#ThoughtfullThurday Thank to those who have wished Millie happily birthday already, we had an early start to take my little lady up to the yard to call Harvey her very own, Nanny and I have done the deal on Millie’s first dream Unicorn. Where the last 10 years have gone I just don’t know but I hope Mils knows just how loved she is, my absolute word, my mini me, my groom, my rider and by bestest friend that has grown into the most amazing person. 10 years old 😬😬😬
Once Nanny took Mils to school I had the job of getting the yard done and Holly horse dazzling and now on route for our 3* dressage test at Rockingham Castle, all figures and toes crossed she can be as amazing as she was in our lesson with Dianne on Tuesday 🤞🏻

#llanymynechhorsetrials #llanymynech20thanniversary I don’t know what to say about our home event, it seemed quite strange, I had no horses to bath, plait or prep instead I was falling off my own the night before, hobbled my way around the xc course early Sunday morning and then left myself jobless whilst owners @Heidi page and team prepped Duke and Carribawn junior was prepped by his owners and tribe Georgia Davies and Cambrian Supplies. I felt like Royalty (as close as I’l...l ever get) perched on a bale of chopped Rape straw, sipping away at a No Gin and lemonade 😂 I did my Job not to badly, a couple of mistakes knocked Duke and I into 9th place but for a horse that runs off my confidence I think we did a pretty good job xc gaining a clear around on a course which caused enough problem. My first event on Finn was nearly a belter, we have a little more work todo to turn this horse into what could be a little super star but a clear sj with an unnecessary 4flts for a disobedience on the corner after a 30 dr put us well, unfortunately it wasn’t meant to be and as much as I tried I just couldn’t get him to the water first time but all the same he finished fantastic and with a bit of trial and errror I think we’ll get there with him. Whilst I’d been under my hat and gear I found it most hiliarious to watch everyone turn to tomatoes in the unexpected glorious sunshine . Many thanks team Radfords Equestrian for yet another fantastically run event with a great atmosphere. Huge thank you to these wonderful owners, feeling very lucky. Bank Holz Monday well spend at Netley Hall Estate first weekend of BS in 2019, here’s to praying for more dates after this very well supported competition. First up we met Georgia Davies and Finn where we jumped 2 double clears with a 2nd in BN🏵 & 💰 ahead of Llanymynech BE next week, joey was firing off all cylinders in the wrong direction after getting away from Heidi and re loading himself 🙈 managed to contain his excitement jumping really well in Disc and he jumped a great clr but I let him down doing my pet hate at 2nd to last, jumped the 1.05 with 4flts, also jumped Heidi Page Duke in the 1.05 ahead of our novice BE next weekend, he jumped super super and continues to improve, unfortunately what seemed a foot perfect round we tapped the 2nd part of the last double which I didn’t expect. All in all rather happy with the ponio’s

Watching badminton was exhausting, stressful, inspirational and nail biting... I need a week off to recover, thankfully rode this morning and been to gallops with Hols so it’s an afternoon of ponies now 💪🏻 congratulations piggy.
