We are a not for profit organisation
We have classes suitable for all ages, from 5 years to 60 + .
All grades and experience are welcome.

Honto Judo Description
Judo means "The Gentle Way‚ÄĚ.
‚ÄúJudo teaches us to look for the best possible course of action, whatever the individual circumstances and helps us to understand that worry is a waste of energy. Anger is a waste of energy and has only negative effects on the self and others. ‚ÄĚ Jigoro Kano (Kodokan Judo)
We at Honto Judo aim to present Judo in the traditional way using the guidelines set out by the founder of Judo, Jigoro Kano. These fundamental principles are ‚ÄúMaximum efficient use of power‚ÄĚ and ‚ÄúThe best use of energy and mutual welfare. ‚ÄĚ It is an art with the implication of first giving way to ultimately gain victory.
We aim to teach Judo as an art using principles and concepts; Judo is so much more than just a sport. More than Gold medals and Black Belts ‚Äď it is a way of life that can benefit every aspect of the person.
We hope to present Judo in such a way that it will be the students who decide what they hope to achieve from the classes, whether they participate to build confidence, socialise, and gain fitness, balance, flexibility or even to compete. We will provide the knowledge for each student to follow their own path.
By teaching Judo as Physical Education we will aim to make the body stronger, useful and healthy while building character through mental and moral discipline. Most importantly, the Judo will be taught in a friendly, laid-back atmosphere and no student will be put under ANY pressure. Judo is what each individual decides it should be. It is, we believe, a way of life.
Remember, ‚ÄúA negative frame of mind runs counter to the principle of Maximum Efficiency and that living in conformity with that principle is key to a forward looking mental state. ‚ÄĚ Jigoro Kano (Kodokan Judo)

A much long overdue post but it's hard to keep up with Steve Martin at the moment. Not only did he just get his 1st Dan, he also just qualified as an area referee! Outstanding commitment to Judo! This Friday we will be taking the power hour on tour! Rather than our usual hour of Randori we will be heading over to the National Dojo, Sophia Gardens.

Hi All, just wanted to say that we have opened the judo club this evening but as there is an amber weather alert been issued please do not make any unnecessary journeys this evening. Keep safe if you are planning on attending. We will keep monitoring the weather to see if the situation changes.
