Hoshi Martial Arts Description
Hoshi are a non-profit childrens personal safety group based in Rhydyfelin, Pontypridd. Our classes are primarily self defence, but unlike most martial arts clubs we cover all aspects of persoal safety including bullying, social media & online safety, stranger danger, first aid and much more.
Young children are using social media more and more. While we know that children under 13 should not be using sites such as Facebook and Twitter, the reality is they do. Therefore we have a strong emphasis on using them safely and knowing how to keep important information private. Hoshi's mission is to show children how to stay safe in all aspects of their lives!
We are members of the Anti Bullying Alliance, ASMAA & SDF, founding members of Cardiff Self Defence and work closely with Enhance Combatives. All our Coaches are insured, DBS checked and first aid trained. They also do a wide range of child safety courses certified by organisations such as NSPCC, Kidscape, Action 4 Children & St Johns Ambulance. For a full list please see our website. Our first aid courses that we run for the students are also certified under St Johns Ambulance's Young Lifesavers scheme.
We have specially designed our syllabus to enable children to learn physical self defence in an easy-to-learn, safe and effective manner. While also building a child's confidence, teamwork, awareness, self image and fitness.
