Self-catering holiday cottage in Snowdonia, North Wales

Idris Bach Description

Alex and Amy welcome you to Idris Bach cottage. Your North Wales holiday home awaits you…

Whether your passion is hiking, climbing, steam trains or if you’re simply here to relax by the seaside in summer, or even just looking for somewhere cosy to stay indoors and enjoy the views, Idris Bach cottage is perfectly situated to enjoy everything that North Wales has to offer.

Idris Bach is a charming late-19th century stone-built quarryman’s cottage perched on the hillside in the village of Penrhyndeudraeth (aka “Penrhyn”, slightly less of a mouthful! ), which lies between Porthmadog and Beddgelert in Snowdonia. It’s just 2 miles from the world-famous art-deco village of Portmeirion.

The cottage enjoys uninterrupted views of the Glaslyn estuary below and the Snowdonia mountains towards Harlech and Cader Idris beyond.

There is central heating throughout, with an open fireplace in the kitchen / dining room, so it’s lovely and cosy all year round. Laid out over three floors, Idris Bach is a compact but roomy one-bedroom cottage and all the rooms are bright and airy.

Idris Bach cottage comes with free wi-fi broadband and all modern conveniences. The open-plan kitchen / dining room on the lower ground floor is fully equipped with all you need, including a dishwasher and washing machine, and a stable door leads outside to the back garden.

The Ffestiniog Steam Railway runs through Penrhyndeudraeth and the station is just a few hundred yards along the road from Idris Bach cottage. From here you can use the steam train network to get around Snowdonia, or just take a ride for fun.
