Institute For Medieval And Early Modern Studies - Imems Description

The Institute for Medieval and Early Modern Studies at Bangor and Aberystwyth Universities in Wales focuses on the period between c. 500 and c. 1800, bringing together academic staff and postgraduates working on the literature & languages, history, music, archaeology and theology of Europe between the collapse of the Roman Empire and the French Revolution.

IMEMS sponsors a series of fortnightly seminars, a bi-annual conference, postgraduate workshops, as well as colloquia and conference sessions.

IMEMS members collaborate with the National Library of Wales, CADW, the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Wales, as well as medievalists and early modernists at Lampeter, Swansea, and Cardiff, and, internationally, with the Huntington Library in Pasadena /CA.
